I only fly the WW1 and very rare the WW2 side I see we have yet another update V5.203 and still they have not addressed the long grass and WW1 plane wheels not touching the ground for me it is a big killer for me. If you want to know witch WW1 aircraft just try a few most are hover planes.

This is shadow bias rather than the wheels actually hovering above the ground. Look at the following images:

il2shadowbias.thumb.jpg.4dfd1ca6c7b821d2eb9585480ddc4ea1.jpg

Look especially at the two dots belonging to the ground texture, at the heads of the arrows (the left dot is partly obscured by the shadow in the left image). When I move the camera viewpoint, the relative position of the dots (i.e. the ground texture) compared to the wheels doesn't change, i.e. the wheels touch the ground. However, the relative position of the shadow compared to the dots does change.

Unfortunately, there are very good reasons for shadow bias and removing (or lowering) it can lead to much worse graphical issues (although there are some tricks that may alleviate it). I encourage you to read the linked article (click the words "shadow bias" in my first sentence) if you want to learn more about why this is necessary. You'd want to skip down to the chapter "Improving shadow maps" and then read the sections about "Shadow acne" and "Peter panning".

What does it mean when something is marked censored and why would something get marked that way?

Nothing is censored. AEthelraedUnraed uses that text as his pilot image.

Ah. Thanks for explaining that. I was wondering what was going on lol.

Some if of the wheels appearing to not touch the ground is due to the rocking of the planes. Perhaps the grass is a bit too long, but should it be like a bowling green either. Probably more important things to fix than these.

Just noticed this weekend that DVIIF has missing right horizontal stabilizer strut. Don't know if it is due to last update or pre existing phenomenon.

Hanriot HD.1’s custom paint scheme’s top wing near the cockpit can’t be seen from the cockpit. Immersion broken.

Also still not possible to restart the engine in flight after the propeller stops.

We should start a bugtracker.

Is this just with the HD1 or other planes too?

This is only with the HD1. The original report was made at release time.

I can confirm that it's a bug that has been inherited from Rise of Flight.

Do you think we can get back to my original post regarding the long grass and it going through the wings is it such a problem I can put up with the wheels not touching the ground, see my early posting above of ROF.

I can ask about things like the wheels, but with the grass I wouldn't expect any more changes at this stage of the engine's development.

Also, I need to know which planes have an issue with the wheels touching the ground.

Thanks for the reply, I can live with the wheels and as to the grass well just have to get in the air faster.

Just thought I would put up some pics to high light what I was saying regarding the grass and yes they are from that other WW1 sim before we had the new improved version.
