R33GZ Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 Hi all, as of the last update, I've noticed what I would call a bug, but maybe it is an intended feature that wasn't quite executed properly? From the changelog: 17. Corrected the audible ranges of airplane engines in first-person view; What I've noticed, is that when on the ground with canopy open and engine shutdown, you can no longer hear aircraft flying close to your airfield... even overhead. A flight of 6x P-51 in a landing pattern for example, are whisper quiet... like some sort of super stealth exhaust system. In single player the F2 external view is full noise, but the F3 Flyby view is so quiet and poorly executed it sounds terrible (just my opinion of course). I understand some players in multiplayer had issues with engine noises being too loud ie. you could hear a Mustang lining up on you inside your own cockpit over your own engine noise. Are the current changes made in point 17 of the changelog what was envisioned? Or is it a bit buggy? And if so, is there a way to change it back to previous version, say through .ini changes?
1CGS LukeFF Posted April 23, 2024 1CGS Posted April 23, 2024 Our audio designer looked into this and couldn't find any issues. What sort of audio settings are you using?
R33GZ Posted April 23, 2024 Author Posted April 23, 2024 Not sure Luke, I'll have a look when I get home. As far as I'm aware though, they are the default audio settings. It looks like Im the only one noticing it as a defect though... so, it might be a case of "suck it up and get over it" 😞
Nihil_ Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 No i noticed it as well Sitting next to the runway with (with the engine off), even other planes idling/taking off closeby are inaudible or very silent I'd understand if sounds are toned down for balancing and to prevent ear-rape but it does feel a bit underwhelming, especially if you have seen engines this size in action then you know there is nothing underwhelming about being near one of these When the local tractor nut has his yearly event i can hear it from the other side of town (in video a R-2800 Double Wasp from a P-47)

Sin embargo, hasta donde yo sé, son las configuraciones de audio predeterminadas. Parece que soy el único que lo nota como un defecto... así que podría ser un caso de "aguanta y supéralo" 😞 The same thing happens to me, before the update it was fine
1CGS LukeFF Posted April 24, 2024 1CGS Posted April 24, 2024 Guys, if you can, please record and upload here a short track file showing an instance of when the audio is lower than you think it should be. Thanks!

IckyATLAS Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 (edited) I have no issue. Checked with one of my missions where I have not only nearby planes and also planes overflying low, or even soldier platoons running besides my stationed plane and sounds are perfect with open canopy and when the canopy is closed they are for sure dampened but still can be heard with a sound level depending on distance so I would say it is perfect. I use a digital optical sound output and with very high quality earphones (Sennheiser with ambient noise reduction) that have surround and boosted bass sounds. I set the game sound recording settings to High Quality Sound, with both ground forces and special effects checked, and set the Sound Volume parameter to the maximum. In this way you get the maximum digital sound level from the game (most detailed) and then I arrange the final sound level on my earphones. You can't do much better on that, and that is what gives you the best immersion. Edited April 24, 2024 by IckyATLAS
Jaegermeister Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 It could be a driver issue. I always check for that first.

R33GZ Posted April 24, 2024 Author Posted April 24, 2024 What a dumb ass... between the game hotfix, nvidia update and OS updates, Im not 100% sure which one fixed it, but I suspect it was the nvidia update as it had an HD audio component. Problem solved, thanks for stating the bleeding obvious Jaegermeister 😉 1 1
