Gunfreak Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 I recently became aware of Erik Haabjørn. Who was squadron commander of 247, before becoming Wing commander. 247 is available in the Normandy map. And would be cool to have a livery with a small Norwegian flag on the Typhoon like this. 1
Sheriff88 Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 (edited) Go to this web page. http://www.gaetanmarie.com/fr/les-spitfire-mk-v-des-unites-norvegiennes-de-la-raf/ Save spitfire image with Norwegian pennant. Open image in whatever graphics editor you use. I use GIMP. Copy section with pennant into a new image with a transparent background. Erase unwanted surrounding texture. Save resulting pennant image as an .xcf file. Open target aircraft skin in graphics editor. Copy and paste pennant image into new transparent layer above base Typhoon image. Move pennant to where you want it. When aligned flatten image and save the resulting skin file as dds file. Edited April 21, 2024 by Sheriff88 additional info 1

Never done any livery work in any sim before. But I do have GIMP.
Sheriff88 Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 (edited) See update to my post above. Pretty simple. When exporting as dds file use these settings: Edited April 21, 2024 by Sheriff88 1

Those flaps on the Spitfire are in way to low quality, the page won't let me save the image, so I have to take screen grab and then it is just way to low resolution. And I can't find any skins for the typhoon in the IL2 folder to edit Edited April 21, 2024 by Gunfreak
Gunfreak Posted April 21, 2024 Author Posted April 21, 2024 (edited) Ok, this is how it ended up. Had to use a random tailed Norwegian flag I found. On first try most of the body of the plane was gone. Flag should be more subdued. Edited April 21, 2024 by Gunfreak
jollyjack Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Select the layer and adjust the opacity slider to around 70%
