Has anyone  used the Meta Quest Pro with Clod or Great Battles with or without Steam. I've just ordered one of the headsets on Ebay, and am trying to anticipate the the challenges of its installation.

It's pretty straightforward. Use link cable for best results. A third party compatible one is fine and a lot cheaper than the one from meta. If you have not used a VR headset before then make sure the resolution slider in the meta app is pushed all the way the the right for about 5000x2700 output Res. Set it to 72Hz refresh rate. Tweak your in game settings so you can maintain 72 fps. What are your pc specs?

The Quest Pro is a very good headset. Unfortunately, IL-2 does not support eye tracking. The other combat sim does, and this has a massive impact on performance, so hopefully the new project will deal with this better.

I like my ReverbG2 but do want to someday replace it with a wireless headset at some point-I hope I can find one that works well Great Battles but si far have been frustrated with my search…

I use meta pro with virtual desktop and opencomposite. It works very well. I do not use MSAA because I get som fps drop below 72 fps. I use FXAA, either in game or in nvidia control panel

Keep in mind that wireless VR requires a strong Wifi connection, which can be a challenge. I've seen people use dedicated Wifi 6E APs that are line-of-sight to the headset.

Yep...there was no way I could get the MetaQuest 3 to ever connect...I had to return it!😏

I've used both meta link and VD with QP. Meta cable has the edge. You can push it to 960 Mbps over the max of 400 with VD. Even with a good wifi 6 setup, next to my PC and headset, I struggle to get a stable 400 Mbps. 300 Mbps is more doable. 960 vs 300 does have noticably lower compression artifacts.

This is also exactly in line with my findings when using the quest pro.

USB link at 800mbps+ will remove 99.9% of compression artefacts where as using wireless you will start to spot mushy colours and textures in forests and towns at any bitrate you try

I am personally very satisfied with this qPro for il2. I think its a fantastic headset, just be sure to get an overheaf strap of some sort and USB earbud earphones like the hammerhead2 pro Razor

Heres a tip, if you want the colours to REALLY pop, on the headset go into accessibility options and bump the contrast up about 15-20%. Set the headset to about 95% brightness and then in the game drop the gamma to .9.

I use 90hz/90fps with 2x MSAA and openxr toolkit resolution override of 3150x(something) with a 4090.

I've not tried that. I have been using OXRTK.

I am running a similar resolution but need to limit it at 72 fps with my 4070.

Can you push this to 960? I know some people find it increases latency but I've not found that.
