Trains Accelerating to Ridiculous Speed After Being Damaged

Brief description: Trains are sometimes accelerating to absurd speeds (300mph or greater) after taking strafing damage and having their cars separated.

Detailed description, conditions: Myself and others have observed this in single and multiplayer.  I created some test missions to try and recreate the issue and come up with workarounds.  Even with onDamaged reports or proximity triggers directing the train to force complete its waypoint or panic stop, it continues to accelerate away.  This behavior seems to be intermittent - sometimes the damaged train continues at a fairly normal speed, but sometimes this acceleration occurs.

Additional assets (videos, screenshots, logs):  I've attached a track from my test mission where the damaged locomotive (that was set to a 100kph waypoint) out runs my Spit XIVe with 150 octane fuel.

Your PC config data (OS, drivers, specific software): Windows 11 Pro, 23H2, 22631.3447 - Geforce RTX 4060 running Nvidia 546.17 drivers.

To add a bit more info to this, in further testing, I discovered that onDamaged reports for the locomotive only fire when the locomotive is destroyed, even if I set the damage threshold very low, like 1 or 5 percent.

Just programmed a train which reversed after it's last 5kph waypoint stop, and at full speed ...

Same bug happened to me, after attacking a train in Quick Missions with a Typhoon, the train accelerated above 500 km/h.

In general the speed of the moving vehicles seem to me a little bit too high, maybe it's their maximum speed, but a vehicle normally does not drive at max speed. That looks unreal.

Absolutely agreed. In an older version of PWCG you could set how many wagons trains can have. With 25 wagons the trains were running with a believable speed. And they were looking much more historically correct than the short trains we have in career mode or QMB.

But it wouldn't help with the issue, that locomotives, which "lost" their wagons run like racing cars.
