jollyjack Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 (edited) New effects? What do they do: lightmax missing mapemitters. and them numbers 002, 030, 037, 041, 124, 144? always wondered about them ... BTW city_fire_small and city_fire_loop still only show smoke, no fire! And all the missing previews in 5.202 grouped: Missing previews 5-202 - group.zip Who wants to help out and create 150x150 jpg files foe them for the game's ..... data/GUI/preview folder? Much appreciated! (i did this before, was quite a bit of work for me at least). Edited April 5, 2024 by jollyjack
Jaegermeister Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 (edited) city_firesmall has always been just a black smoke column. city_firesmall_loop is what you should use since it only needs to be activated, unless you want it to go out after 16 seconds city_fire and city_fire_loop still produce a 30 sq. m +/- fire and a smoke column as far as I know. I checked it about 2 weeks ago in the current release version. Lightmax is a static light that illuminates a large area at night. You can adjust the altitude above ground level if you like. I have not found a use for it since it is extremely bright but you never know... Edit... I recall I did use it once and put it on top of a water tower as a guide light in a Handley-Page 0-400 night mission Edited April 4, 2024 by Jaegermeister 1
Juri_JS Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 I use Lightmax as light in hangars and also as additional light effect for large fires, because the fire effects in the game don't produce enough light. In one of my Ju-88 C-6 missions I also used it to simulate target illumination from LC-50 bombs. This worked quite well, the only problem was that the effect is static and I did not find a way to make the light source slowly descend like a parachute illumination bomb. 1
czech693 Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Could it be attached to a parachute load or jumper to get the decending effect?

You could start and stop new ones slightly lower every 5 seconds or so in a chain. You would also get a slightly flickering effect that way. You could also move them slightly so it looked like wind drift. 1

What's needed would be an option to smoothly move the light source in a certain direction at a selectable speed. Basically a waypoint system for effects. Edited April 5, 2024 by Juri_JS 1

Create me a new recon mission on a Sunday, and skip church.
