Question about Track IR profiles?

I got my first track ir yesterday and started IL2:GB with it,it worked without any configuration on my part.Im wondering what can i gain by tuning the profile of track IR,are there profiles that i can download somewhere (maybe some work better with some planes?),and any usefull info that you can help me with in few sentences.Thank you in advance.
