Razorback Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 (edited) This is not BS. I just never connected the dots. I knew him as Hermann, and not very well.. .., and a long time ago!!!. I was 17 18 19 yrs old then.. Thats it. Now, I sit back, and just smack myself for not asking a LOT more questions WHEN I had the chance. Especially . While speaking with my Sted Dad Topic came up, and I asked what was Hermanns last name?? HE said NEUMANN.... I just went blank for a second.. I cannot believe I had Hermann Neumann around me that long, and not realized it. My flight school was owned and operated by a Tuskegee airman. As a Kid growing up around aviation. I had it GOOD. Nothing but Military Pilots, for the most part... Hermann hung out at the airport quit a bit back in the late 80's early 90's\ I knew he flew for Germany, but we didnt have Il2 Yet !!! All that time........... Sheeeshhh I WISH I had known., Edited March 14, 2024 by Razorback

Razorback Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 No sir, his name was Hermann Neumann, I may have the spelling wrong.. he flew Stukas on the East front.,. he flew 109's as well I think Ill see if my step dad remembers who he flew with.. but I know he was a JABO guy.. I read a two part interview with him , on reddit. Thats what connected the Dots Once I was told his last name, I thought wait a second..... GOT to be the same guy, and my step dad seemed lil shocked I didnt know that about Hermann already.. I didnt really know him like an old friend, but my Step Dad was friends with him. I was young, and did not know any WWII Aviation History. Nice fella !
