T24_Martin Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Hello, I am running a Pimax Crystal with a 4090 and 7800X3D. I am using Opencomposite to let BOX run with OpenXR instead of steam VR. Also with OpenXR toolkit and PimaxXR. It was running better then steam VR for me. SInce the last update of my Crystal to Pimax Play 1.18.02.01 Crystal firmware: V1.3.0_au0221 I got CTD all the time when using OpenXR. I had to switch back to steam VR. Does anybody experience something similar or does anybody have an idea what could hav caused this problem? My native OpenXR application like DCS or MSFS are running flawless. Best!

I have the crystal with same setup as you and the latest firmware/pimax play updates. I havent had any CTD's in opencomposite yet. I know if you have the almalence layer app installed and active in steamvr it will CTD frequently in IL2.
T24_Martin Posted March 15, 2024 Author Posted March 15, 2024 Thank you! No, I don't use Almalence. I basically didn't change any single setting. Just did the update of firmware and Pimax Play. Since then it crashes. Maybe I have to reinstall the tools.
T24_Martin Posted March 15, 2024 Author Posted March 15, 2024 Found it. Since the update NIS scaling doesn't work anymore. I used to run the Crystal with max resolution and 80% NIS scaling. If I disable it and set the Crystal to 80% instead it works again. 1
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Try CAS sharpening - I was using always scalling before, but now I just set lower resolution in games (whatever my gpu 3090 can handle, i.E. ss 80%), and CAS do miracles on it. PS: with my head/eyes I just do not see top parts of my crystal screens. For that reason I reduced fov to 80% just from top side (OpenXR_Toolkit), and I reduced resolution a bit more (100 pixels vertically less). The picture is still excellent, and I can spot some planes 😄 1
