Seaplane and Home defense squadrons made useful?

I wish the seaplanes and the home defense units had a purpose in the sim in the career modes. Maybe some mod could make them more usable (some campaign mission creation improvement for enemy over the UK  for home defense units to engage (any axis plane that as the range to attack England and for the seaplanes, some  creation for ships and enemy planes encountered at sea.

To date, I have never encountered the enemy when flying for a home defense units and at sea in a Hansa or Hanriot, I have located enemy ships over the sea but they is no way to damage them and I have also never seen planes over the sea. Its very confusing to see why these planes were even added to the sim and in the career modes if they have nothing to fight or an objective to complete. I see additions to the extended campaign mods for Il-2 GB. Is that possible in ROF? Its sad because I love flying the Hansa and it would be fun if the defense units could go on intercepts for Gothas (Night attacks on Zeppelins with headlight and gun equipped Be2C would be awesome but I know thats not possible) or any other enemy plane flying a mission over the UK coasts.

The aircraft would have been Gotha bombers, and a few R-Planes.

Earlier in the war there were Zeppelin raids, and I think a raid by an LVG C.IV. were also used - but generally Single-Engined two-seaters couldn't reach most of the U.K. with an effective bomb-load. Even the AEG and Friedrichshafen bombers, which were more successful than the Gothas in many respects, were generally used elsewhere because of their slightly shorter range (and thus aren't remembered in the English speaking world). I gather there was a lot more combat near the French Coast - so maybe try signing up with one of those squadrons?

As for smaller surface targets - I just went through the list of German torpedo boats and almost all were lost to mines. About ten were lost in surface actions (about half of those at Jutland). One was sold to Turkey and destroyed by a Handley-Page bomber, releasing its bombs from 240 metres altitude. There was a lot of submarine hunting though - so that could have been improved probably.

I did make a mod once that would allow the Submarine to shoot back at you with its deck gun.
