Its good to see those Spitfire IXC's lined up on the runway. This was Clostermann's second big mission over France flying with 341 'Alsace' Sqn.

Note: When you go into 'Missions' in the game, click on this mission and you will see some unusual text open up - just click on this text and the game will start. This glitch happened when I was making the original mission and I haven't been able to get rid of it.

This mission will give you a chance to give the Spitfire IXC a 'real go' against some determined Luftwaffe Focke-Wulfs. Good luck and watch your fuel?

Hello and thank you for your missions based on Clostermann's book I am a fan.

Would it be possible to adapt it into a campaign version, it would really be even more immersive.

Already a huge thank you for your work.

Unfortunatly, I tested twice the mission and encountered at least 2 problems :

1-  Player planes are taking a lot of time before taking off (indeed, the following flight is aking for takeoff and the answer is "runway busy")

2- Around waypoint 3, the player flight is going back to waypoint 2 without any message and then is circling : I had to give up at this time for the two missions

3- there is no flight altiude indication, which is very painfull to plan fliying

How are you Jeanba,

Now that I am back into 'mission making' again, I do admit I was experimenting a bit! I've put the start timings back to normal, although it still takes the second flight 6+ minutes to taxi out for take-off. On your second point, the game is programmed for the first flight to circle back while they wait for the second flight to catch up. On point three, press 'J' to see your height in feet - you can read the cockpit altimeter also, which is accurate or were you meaning altitude indicated on the map route?

Talking about altitude, the Fock-Wulfs attacked them from 30,000ft, the Spits were travelling at 27,000ft (refer to page 34 in the 'Big Show'). I am going to increase the Focke-Wulf altitude and release 'revision 3' shortly.

Hello DFLion

Thank you for kindly answering

I think that the remarks I made all sum up to" briefing":

It would be very helpful to add such remarks in the briefing as:

"Wait for Control tower authorization before takeoff"

"Regroup squadron at waypoint 3, altitude ()"

In the briefing 'or briefing map" : display altitude (there was a misunderstanding, I can read my altitude, but it is important to have the altitude of my flight at each waypoint (even if I am not the leader), to plan the flight)

Thank you in advance

Following my discussion with 'jeanba' and his good suggestions, I have attached Ver.03. I have played the mission a couple of times and it seems to be a lot better. The Fockes will come at you from a higher altitude giving them the 'height advantage', so you have to use all your skills to beat them! Clostermann shot down 2 Fockes in this historical mission.

Look at the text above and you will pick up the situation for Ver.03.

Good Luck!

That's great thank you

Actually, given the AI of the game, when I do not understand a AI plane behavior, I suspect a bug

I tested the mission and it is good, when flying in formation, knowing the altitude of next waypoint makes it easier to adjust engine (especially to save fuel !!!).

The fight was great, I shot down 2 FW, but I had to return due to "bingo fuel" and small damages  after damaging 2 others.

We feel the difference between the IXc and IXe and tight turns need more care.

A nice experience

Nice one; now running it at a high graphic settings, there is so much plane action going during that air battle my screen starts staggering occasionally.

I wonder if spawning planes instead of full route setups can make a mission like this run more CPU/GPU friendly?

I love to circle through all AI aircraft during the flight, on the other hand
