kraszus Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 (edited) Thought I would try DServer for my PWCG single player campaign. Set the server up on my spare PC and ran a PWCG mission, with aircraft, ground vehicles and structures all set to medium. As i crossed the front line, i was bombarded with server overload messages. Could see the graph was spiking like crazy on DServer but I didn't notice any performance issues on my gaming pc. I thought running a DServer on a separate pc would free up resources on my gaming pc but it would seem that i'm probably better off ditching DServer and playing regular singleplayer missions. Is there any significant advantage to running DServer for singleplayer only? [EDIT] Should mention that the Server PC is quite old - Ryzen 2600x 3.6GHz with 16GB RAM. Gaming PC is Ryzen 5600x overclocked to 4.6GHz with 64GB RAM and RTX 3090. Edited February 19, 2024 by kraszus PC Specs

stepHuntMario Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 (edited) Setting up your own server sounds like a cool way to tailor your gameplay, especially for those who prefer flying solo or want to tweak settings for a more personalized challenge. It can be a bit daunting at first, but with the right guides and a bit of tinkering, it seems doable. Personally, I’ve been curious about running my own server too. It’s not just about gameplay but also learning how servers work, which seems like a useful skill these days. Plus, having control over missions and mods could really spice up the action. I noticed some folks mentioned providers like ewebguru for hosting. It’s neat to have options, but I wonder if anyone’s tried hosting on their own hardware? Seems like a fun project if you’ve got the gear and bandwidth. Edited June 20, 2024 by stepHuntMario
HazMatt Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 I have tried this and even though my server shows up on the list of IL2 servers I am unable to connect to it. The issue is that I use an internet provider that uses a shared IP so I am unable to forward ports. I was hoping that I would be able to connect to the local server from inside the LAN but it looks like the game connects to another server and then connects back to the local server on my LAN. Any ideas on how to fix this?
