Hi The_Hobgoblin,

have you read the Getting Started And Troubleshooting Guide? If not, I recommend it.

The section called Troubleshooting contains recommendations and hints what you can try to do when there is some problem.

The Guide should be located here - Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz\manuals.

It helps when you specify parameters of your PC - what CPU, graphics card, memory size, Windows version, etc. you have.

I assume you're trying to run Cliffs of Dover - Blitz, correct?

There are two versions of Cliffs of Dover on Steam. The other one is an old version which is not supported already and may not run.

Yep Im trying to run Cliffs of Dover Blitz.

I have an amd ryzen 7 3700X on a asus rog strix X470-f mobo, 64gb 3600mhz TridentZ Neo ram with a Geforce RTX 4070 on windows 10 64bit

Have the game installed on an m2 drive.

Not running any antivirus only windows defender thing.

Tried everything to get it to launch short of wiping the pc again.

Was going to buy Battle of Stalingrad but if this wont even launch I dont fancy risking £50 on that :(

Now spent all day re formatting my pc and setting everything back up and redownloading steam and the game. Still the game wont launch.

A loading screen pops up for a split second and nothing.

Running out of ideas now.

Seems there are lots of people with this same problem and no solution only the usual things everyone including myself has tried.

Disgusting that companies get away with charging money for garbage like this :(

FYI, that is a completely different game engine. This is a 2011 game that was a bit of a failure, but a modding team picked it up and got the green light to develop it further with access to the source code. So it is not made by the same developers anymore.

Anyway, I would personally not suggest getting into IL-2 with Cliffs of Dover, but with Battle of Stalingrad.

Best would be to wait for a sale on BoS website or Steam if you prefer. BoS comes from RoF developers and is super solid in its installation and UI. CloD has improved its' installation routine over the years but I spent tens of hours getting it to run on my pc and then only with Win7 compatibility mode. That compatibility mode doesn't seem to be necessary on my pc any more so I think some improvements have been made. ?

Do you think Battle of Normandy would work? Is it newer? Whats the best one to go for?

Any module should work. Suggest you try the GB forum if you need further info ?

The newer games all use the same game engine (so any improvements also feed back into the older games). It's just a different map and different planes. I would suggest going for Bodenplatte if you are unsure. It may just be the best game of them all.

If you buy on Steam then you are required to get Battle of Stalingrad first. This is not needed if you buy directly from the developer and that's what I suggest you should do.

If you buy during a sale then the older games get big discounts. Next sale should be in 1 or 2 months. You can also get one game now and then get more modules during the sale (assuming you like the first one you buy).

What do you expect you will achieve by saying something like that?

There are much more people who can run Cliffs of Dover - Blitz without any problem than those who have some trouble with it.

I'm pretty sure your problem is somewhere in your PC, Windows, or a set of programs you run there.

I wanted to help you but I will not waste my time with someone who immediately starts blaming others when he has some problem.

Many of us, I suspect, have been spoiled to the point of expecting games to install and run. When a game doesn't meet that expectation it becomes a question of how many unproductive rabbit holes an individual buyer will tolerate.

Finally got it to load up!
Heres what I did.

Did a windows reinstall at the weekend but kept use files, no joy so..

Decided to totally wipe the hard drive and do a full reinstall and now it works.

Dont know what caused the problem, probly some junk program running in background.

It made me mad because I dont usually have many problems running games and like to keep programs I use to a minimum.

Anyways I am pleased I got it working!

All I need now is to find a teamspeak or discord for a new player so I can meet people and start having fun at last :)

Bah!

Show me somewhere to play and talk and meet people

20 years I have sat here and there is nothing and nobody.
