21.Gr.CT.Ludovisi Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 As title, I'd like to maintain speech text but totally hide HUD (still compass is here), is there a mod? Thanks
Skycat1969 Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 I don't know. I use the mod that removes the HUD mini-panel. However, the compass appears if I have the icon markers toggled on. I actually don't mind though because the compass also shows wind direction, which can valuable information in the game. Customizable Speedbar for Il-2 GB (sas1946.com)
21.Gr.CT.Ludovisi Posted February 14, 2024 Author Posted February 14, 2024 Unfortunatly it doesn't work anymore

So the available combinations are: +ID +COMPASS +TEXT or +ID -COMPASS -TEXT or - ID -COMPASS +TEX.... the combination +ID -COMPASS +TEXT seems not available. czech693 Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 (edited) This version 2 has been working for me. https://www.mediafire.com/file/lmkddu1371qgaeo/Reduced_Speedbar_2.zip/file Edit: Using the reduced speedbar mod can't you leave it blank: &planeMainStationDefault="" Edit II: Never mind that and a couple other trys didn't work. Although, I didn't use ID. I'll try that tomorrow. Edited February 16, 2024 by czech693

But sorry, I myself fly since 4 years with VR and an average, 4 year old computer. Without head up display and markers. I navigate by viewing the landscape and compare it with the map. I am using a self-made Radar group that I install for each mission that displays from time to time the grid coordinates with subtitle and I use either a subtitle or a audio self-made Wingman Warning Group, that warns me (but not always) when enemies are closing. This is my personal style of reaalistic WW2 flight sim gaming. I will publish next week my first Scripted Campaign with these feattures preinstalled. If you are interested you can try. I have seen that you have all required IL2 GB modules. Edited February 15, 2024 by kraut1 1

Yes, it works only if you don't leave it empty, but is not really a problem because I just put something like combat position that is not displayed on planes... and it works fine. 14 hours ago, kraut1 said: Okay, I understand what you mean. It will be great, even if it doesn't solve the dogfight reconnaissance problems in VR (if you have 5-6 fighters around you at about 1km it is still quite impossible decide which engage without id). I tried the 110 night campaign with radar and works great, but I really like to try your solution, thanks.

Thanks Its a bug in current version of IL-2, you cant hide it for all the time, just one session (till the close IL-2). Settings dont remember what you tick in compass option. You can use „i” to hied it. Edited February 16, 2024 by YoYo
czech693 Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 I think what he is saying is that using "i" to turn off the insturment panel (speedbar) turns off the compass, but also turns off the aircraft markers (icons).

Right: however with the Reduce Speedbar 2 mod it works fine (just need to remove compass and add something else, don't leave it blank).
czech693 Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Used "fuel" since it never showed up in Speedbar anyway. It works, Speedbard doesn't appear, but icons are working.
GOZR Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I am against any markers for myself (vr) but maybe some better dot can be good for others.. i wish we had more reflective light on the aircraft to detect them far away as it should be. Not just a black dot..
OrLoK Posted May 5, 2024 Posted May 5, 2024 thanks for this thread and answers, folks! helped me too.
