Maps/missions with racing circuits

During the last race competition, I tried on official contest, and came to realis I was greatly enjoying racing with a fighter plane, and trying to improve my performance.

Any idea if it is possible to find similar races to practice in Il2, outside of official competition?

To 1CGS it would be a great addition to the standard missions to propose races by default.

You can still do those races. There is a server for them. I would like the option to fly any plane through the course.

I've seen some race courses on youtube, but I've never found the map/missions.

With the new map editor that was just announced I plan to make some race courses. I need to learn the mission editor too.

I like to fly around Koln on the Boddenplatte map. Here is the course I run:

Edit: I forgot about these co-op mode race missions

Can these be executed as single player missions as well?

Well, bad news, I tried to play the river races last night and they wouldn't load. I couldn't get them to open in the mission editor either. I did see the competition courses in the co-op folder. You can create a co-op server and play by yourself. You can make a private co-op server and you are the host, so it's basically like single player.

I bet there's a cracking out-takes video to go with this

That reminds me, I was going to make a video of all the attempts I made to land on top of the train station for the cover photo. It took me about an hour and I could never pull one off without breaking my prop.

We need to learn the mission editor and make our own. I'll give it a shot this weekend.

Did you try deleting the msnbin file and letting the Mission Editor rebuild it?

You are the champ! Thanks. It worked. I will rebuild these and post them.

Here are the rebuilt river race missions, these need to be played in a co-op server and put in the co-op missions folder. I added an old Stalingrad race too. It uses the Spit Vb. This one is a single player mission. I can swap planes for any of these missions if you want to fly something else. And now I'm off to study the mission builder. I'd like to make/alter some courses where you can choose any plane you want from the co-op lobby instead of a different mission for each plane.

Excellent! Many thanks!

Any idea what it would take for these missions to work in SP?

Will savings them in editor as Single player do the trick?

You need to open it in the editor and then in mission properties which should be the first box to pop up change it to single player. Then save it to the single player missions folder. I tested it. It works OK. It will put you in a random plane out of the line up. I would suggest trying out making your own private servers in multiplayer. You will be the host, so your internet connection doesn't really matter. It's easy from the multiplayer menu. The reason I say that is the only way for me to make new races where you would be able to pick any plane and customize your loadout requires it going into a dogfight mission. And then if you want to race with other people it's already set up. It saves making a ton of individual missions for each plane.

Now i fully understand what you mean with plane selection, otherwise we will have to go through the editor.

Here is my first track. It's a work in progress, but it is playable. I need to work on animations for the gates and some other stuff. If you want to try it here is the link:

It needs to go in the dogfights missions. There are a bunch of planes to choose from. I think the race course is intuitive, but let me know if there's any parts you have trouble with following the course. I tried to use smoke to guide/block your path.

Here is a fairly leisurely run I did because I didn't want to crash, to show you all the path:
