Youtch Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Dear VR community, Is any of you using VR headset with separated headphones, Bluetooth or other? Are you happy with the outcome? Any lagging between image and sound? I am considering buying a Pimax Crystal, but I don t feel good about spending an additional 100 buck for the DMAS ear phone, as a sound upgrade. While I understand that it is convenient to have display and sound in one unique device, I am not convinced by the current audio solution from Pimax. I am coming from a HP Reverb G2 which has a similar solution for audio, but that I found quite fragile, always needing to adjust it correctly over the ear, need to adjust faulty connection and lack of bass. This is why I am not assessing to separate both and have the headset for display and separate headphone for the sound. Any feedback would be much appreciated. y.

I'm using the Crystal with a Vmoda Crossfade headphone, using Equalizer APO with a 2.5mm headphone cable straight into the Crystal. I use the low latency mode for the sound in Pimax Play and it sounds really good to me and don't notice any distortion. I also didn't buy the DMAS since I prefer headphones and considered it a waste of money. I also took off the G2 stock earphones and used headphones instead. Be advised that not all headphones are a good fit. My Steel Series Arctis headphones didn't extend enough to get a really good fit over my ears... Also, you can use the USB-C ports from the Crystal to your headset as well. I hear that lowers latency some but I didnt need it... Edited February 8, 2024 by DBCOOPER011
Youtch Posted February 8, 2024 Author Posted February 8, 2024 Thanks for your answer. In this case you just remove the headphone from the Pimax and that sit? Or you need to cover it with something instead? I am thinking of the new headstrap that seems to use the headphone points to attach. Would Bluetooth headphone bring too much latency for VR? Many thanks again

Many thanks again Yes, I just removed the old headphones and the apache strap I use pretty much covers the old headphone connector area. I briefly tried bluetooth and it worked fine if I recall correctly. I havent noticed any audio delay on mine at all.. 1
C6_Werner_VR Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 I use the Sony inzone buds with my Aero, less than 30ms of latency and a weight of 6.5 grams , the best!. 1
