The FIO’s example is based upon the remains of an example found in 1992 near Lake Kokkojarvi in Karelia, a region of northern Russia bordering Finland. Manufactured in 1937, it belonged to 122 Squadron of the Soviet Northern Fleet.

S!

There is propably the only surviving 2-seater I-16 UTI in museum here in Finland. Not flyable though. Only one flying warbird here, Gloster Gauntlet.

Awesome! Hope it can fly over to EAA this Summer. Always one of my favorite Russian fighters, reminds me of a Geebee.

Every WW 2 warbird restored deserves medal of honor. And PA_Willy has stolen my hat.

I read about this several years ago in flypast.  I was not aware it stoped flying. Great to see it in the skies.
