Nars Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Good day gentlemen. I've been trying to find wether the oil temp gauge reads engine intake or output temperature. I haven't been able to find any manual or handbook that specifies that. In this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJHLn4RyBd0, at the 16:00 mark you can clearly read "Eintr. Temp.", which I believe stands for "Eintritts" or intake. I also found this info on the actual gauge, all reading "Eintr." as well: https://www.deutscheluftwaffe.de/fl-20343-elektr-temperaturanzeiger-1940 Then, if it is intake temperature what we're seeing displayed, can I assume that it should be kept under 80ºC (judging by the airplane specification in-game and the pilot's handbook). I have been flying it between 80-105ºC and neither the technochat is complaining about overheating nor the engine seems to notice. So, 1. Does it actually read oil intake temperature? And 2. Is it working correcly? Meaning, can you disregard the 80ºC max temp without any consequence? Thank you and excuse my question if it's something very obvious.

It is written above the first gauge in your second link: "Besonderheit: umschaltbar - für Eintritts- und Austrittstemperatur" (special feature: switchable for inlet- and output temperature). And on the gauge you can read: "Drücken: Eintr.- Temp." (press: inlet- temperature). It is the button on top at the right side. In game it is outlet temperaure (which makes sense, as you can't switch) like for the Bf 110 E2, which uses the same engine in game. So default temperaure is 94°C, maximum 100°C. But I, too, was over 100°C many times with the Bf 110 E2 as well as over the maximum water temperaure, but as long as you don't do this for longer, it usually doesn't kill your engine. 2
