Problems with Key Mapping

Been away from the game for a year.  Just powered up the game & all looks well but....

Control mode is Joystick

Attempting to add/change command keys...when I click on any function (eg Fire Rockets) I am presented with the "Press a key to assign it for a command" but the word "null" appears & I am unable to assign any key. This is the same for every command.

I use the Wart Hog HOTAS (Joystick & Control Panel) & it was working great when I last played.

The Game responds to the Joystick's Pitch movement with appropriate dial movement under "Input Responses:Plane Control: Pitch"

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hey @DocJMB, are you using any non-windows software for joystick calibration? If so, you might want to disable it and see if that solves the problem, and/or check that your divers/software is up to date. If you aren't, double check that windows is correctly identifying the buttons on your input devices (probably are, but check to be sure).

 

When you last played, had the new plane specific controls been implemented? If not, I'd suggest backing up and deleting you control text files, and starting from scratch. If that doesn't work (or you have already had plane specific controls), restore the deleted files and we're back where we started from.

Will double-check on any updates.

Problem solved!!  ?

 

In my Directory, the Battle of Stalingrad\data folder & all its sub-folders had been set to Read-Only (not sure when or why)

 

Unchecking the Read Only button in each resolved my issue.

 

Now able to set my Controls.
