How to route SRS to headset and IL-2 to speakers?

I would ideally like to route my SRS dialogue to my headset and have my IL-2 environment sounds come out of my speakers.

I love the immersion quality of having surroundsound hooked up to my flight simulators, as well as running Andre and Fl0f's SimShaker software to bass shakers on my rig. I am currently using two sound 'cards': the graphics card sound chips and the motherboard sound chips.  The sound out of my Nvidia graphics card feeds both my HP Reverb G2 headset, as well as [via the second display port] a surround sound home theater preamp that feeds a surround sound speaker system. The second sound 'card' is the built-in sound in the motherboard which outputs the haptic feedback from IL-2 to the bass shaker via the Simshaker software.

When I have not been able to do is to specify that sound from communications programs, such as SRS, goes specifically to the earpieces on the headphones, while the sound from IL-2 (and DCS and Microsoft flight simulator, for that matter) goes to the surround sound processor for the surroundsound speakers.

Has anybody gotten such a set up to work on their system? Do I need a third sound card so that I can separately address the headphones from the speakers, or will that make no difference whatsoever, since both my headset as well as my Home Theater system sound and video processor get the same video feed to show IL-2?  I have downloaded and tried using VoiceMeteer banana, but my issue is that I can't specify what goes to the HP reverb headset for audio versus to the Home Theater surroundsound processor for audio.

Any assistance will be much appreciated!

(By the way, for anybody who has not tried surroundsound for the simulator, and haptics via a Buttkicker or similar, the difference is amazing especially with VR .)

I use voicemeeter potato to sort this stuff out. Banana won't have enough inputs for what you want to do. It adds 4 virtual inputs + mic and 3 outputs you can plug different sound sources into and send them where you want them. Send your game sounds to your speakers or headset or Buttkicker. Can simultaneously send SRS to your headset. Manage your mic too. It works great but isn't super easy to set up. You can make different profiles to switch back and forth as needed. Lots of good videos on his to set it up. Check it out.
