Varjo Aero discontinued, support until end of 2025.

Maybe more pressure on Varjo to support until 2026.

I'm a bit gutted as well....just a bad day to hear that news as I'm building a new rig today, all centered on the Varjo I got in December.

What does mean 'end of support' ? We mostly need to have the varjo base continuing to work with the Aero and the latest version of OpenXR/SteamVR...

Not clear at the minute.

It is not as if varjo will not be developing varjo base for xr4 to maintain compatability

All varjo Aero units are sold in the Varjo stock. There could be still stock with the Varjo official resellers.

When Varjo reduced the price last summer to 999$ I tought that it could be because a new Aero could be released for 2024 (hopefully with some more vertical FOV, and maybe with lighter pancake lenses design), but the true reason was the discontinuation of the domestic market. This is really the bad thing. So, no future Aeros.

For current Aero users I don´t think it will be a big issue. The varjo Aero software will work for sure for the next 24 months, and most likely the following months after that since OpenXR evolution will mantain certain base compatibility with previous releases.

And also, in two years time, new VR devices will be on the table, hopefully from Valve!! or other new manufacturers.

It looks like the Aero line (despite it was sold more than expected) is not profitable enough compared to the other business devices. That´s the pity for us. The other option is to spend 4000€ on the XR-4...(and don´t tell it to your wife)

Hello Varjo Community,

Today I am bringing to you some sad news, that you might have seen from various sources already. Varjo is stopping production and sales of the Varjo Aero headset. The last device has left the factory line, was packed, and shipped out to the customer. It has been a wonderful, although bumpy trip for the device for me, as I witnessed it transform from an idea to a real product that you guys can enjoy!

What does it mean for the future of the device? Official support will continue until the end of 2025 - but don't worry, you still will be able to use the device after that date. The end date means that there will be no more Aero-specific updates in the software.
As for the future, we are now focusing our manufacturing efforts on producing the XR-4 series of headsets, the first of which will become available for consumers later this year.

I am standing right beside you, paying respects to the great product Aero has become. ?

I got mine last week, which makes me one of the last customers. Sad to hear they won't release Aero 2.
