R33GZ Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Although I've been flying the p38 for a wee while now, I've never for the life of me been able to find an indicator showing degree of flap extension.... is there one? I just settle for about a 2sec pull to get somewhere around takeoff flaps and obviously full down for landing flaps. Although I don't use it, I think a quick pull on the flap lever automatically gives combat flaps from memory? I might be confusing that with a different aircraft. Any hints a tips appreciated
Skycat1969 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 The historic manuals describe the flaps as fully closed, fully open, and at a 50% position on the lever called "Maneuver." I tested this in the game, and the flaps lever is to the right of the instrument panel. If flaps are fully retracted, you can hit your flaps down button on your joystick or keyboard to quickly set the lever to the Maneuver position. However, you will need to hold your flap buttons down to either continue to the fully down position or retract to fully up position. Earlier models of the P-38 had a visual flap and gear position indicator gauge on the instrument panel but it seems to have been discontinued with the P-38J.
HotPursuit Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 There is an red indicator post in the top rear of the left wing. It doesn't show degrees of extension, it just raises to show that the flaps are deployed to some degree.

I knew there had to be something.
jollyjack Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 With a warthog throttle i assign the flaps lever to up for button b21, and for down the b22 button. Move it to middle position after 2 sec, so movement stops in middle position that sets about 50% ...
Stryker07 Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 I am fairly sure that two quick taps of whatever button you have assigned to flaps down will get you maneuver flaps, 50%.
