Rjel Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 (edited) A couple of years ago, I asked if it was permissible to have screenshots printed for private use. In his affirmative reply, Jason recommended increasing the resolution for printing. I run at 1080p, my monitor's native res. I've tried a couple of different programs to increase the resolution, Topaz and Photoshop, hoping to achieve the desired look but both introduced artifacts in the reflective NMF on a P-51 that was featured in the screenshot as below. Maybe I'm missing something or the programs can't do what I'm trying to do. Spoiler Given the above, I'm hoping someone might have an answer to a couple of questions. Can I force IL2GB to run at 1440p even though my monitor is 1080p? I'm not concerned with frame rates as this is only for screenshot purposes and I'd be capturing the images from the ingame recordings. Does GB capture the image from within the game or does it capture what we see on the screen like some other programs do? Would GB capture the image at 1440p in the game or revert to the screen image at 1080p? Is there a more simple method of achieving what I'm trying to do? No_85_Gramps Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 What size prints are you planning to print? A 1080p print may not look that bad at 8x10. I haven't used Photoshop in some years now but, IIRC, there are different options when upscaling. You could always do a small print just to test how it looks. 1

I'd thought about a test print too. Flickr will do a 5x10 print for under $3 plus shipping. Ultimately I'm hoping for something larger to frame and hang on the wall.
ICDP Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 (edited) Was it possible Jason was referring to the DPI resolution in Photoshop rather than the actual game resolution? (See the highlighted number below) 300 would be recommended for photo printing. You can change this setting without having to resize the original image by un-ticking "Resample" https://www.adobe.com/uk/creativecloud/photography/discover/increase-resolution.html Obviously the higher the resolution of your source the better it will look. Rjel Posted January 14, 2024 Author Posted January 14, 2024 Had some time to experiment with this. I was able to run the game 1440p and it captured the screenshot at that resolution. I know I'm not seeing that resolution on my screen but for printing purposes I think this will be what I need. Once I have something printed, I'll post my impressions of the results. 1
