Hugh_Jazzsoul Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 (edited) Hey all, I've been tinkering with some files and managed to find a way to get the oxygen masks of pilots and gunners to stay on at all altitudes, as well as having the goggles stay up as well. I haven’t seen anyone do this yet, so I figured I’d share this I've included two variations of the mod, one with goggles down and one with the goggles up. I've not tested this with the AI gunnery mod, but I'm pretty sure they're not compatible. I can make a version with the AI gunnery mod included if anyone is interested. Activate only one mod at a time, either "Masks Always On" or "Masks Always On(Goggles off)". Edited August 12 by Hugh_Jazzsoul 7 4 1
MarcoPegase44 Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Hello, Very nice initiative, I downloaded it. But could you be clearer for the installation path in the right folder? The ideal would be to be able to install with JSGME

DragonDaddy Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Don’t you have to use another mod to get a pilot in the cockpit?
Stonehouse Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 (edited) Definitely not compatible with AI gunnery or AI Gunnery Pilot despawn delay mods. Be easy enough to include in either direction. If people like mask always on I can do that in the AI Gunnery mods quite easily or Hugh can include the AI gunnery bot file changes in this mod and you would have to load it after AI gunnery mods. I did get the impression from reading bios that the masks were somewhat uncomfortable in real life and so would not be worn unless needed or fastened loosely until needed. Typhoons required a mask always due to CO2 levels in the cockpit and possibly Tempests were the same but other aircraft didn't until you got to around 10000 ft. Although I do have a vague memory that RAF pilots had the mic in their mask so perhaps they did wear them at least loosely fitted under 10k ft Edited January 14, 2024 by Stonehouse 4 1
E69_julian57 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 (edited) Hello @Hugh_Jazzsoul Thanks for the mod Would there be any possibility that the pilot when he jumps out of the plane does not appear with the mask...? Edited January 14, 2024 by E69_julian57

Unfortunately I don’t think it is possible. However, according to the bailout procedure in the P-47 Manual, it is recommended to continue to wear the mask for protection Edited January 15, 2024 by Hugh_Jazzsoul 1
Stonehouse Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Just one other comment - specifically for gunners - if you were to try to include the AI gunnery changes then you have a hard dependency on AI Gunnery being loaded first due to the extensive changes I have made to the turret controllers used. If you loaded this mod first you would get errors about missing files.
Clover Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Hi! since update 5.505 (I think) the goggles down version of the mod doesn't seem to be working, at least for me. The only other mod I have active is just some aircraft re skins so I'm unsure what could be the root of the problem if it is in my end. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks ^^

It should be working fine now. Edited March 7 by Hugh_Jazzsoul

Hopper64 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 (edited) I tried this mod but I am running into an error in windows where it says the file is invalid. This is after downloading and trying to extract the zip file. And then I installed extractnow program which does the same thing and it says the file is corrupt? Just wanted the author to know. Thanks! Edited August 11 by Hopper64

I had always used extractnow but I may try another program as you suggest. Windows 11 is capable of opening most of these files currently. First time I had a problem. Thanks. And thanks for your effort with this mod. Much appreciated. Edited August 11 by Hopper64 1
Hopper64 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Yes, thanks everyone. 7 Zip worked fine. Great mod and thank you!! 7 Zip states it was opened as a "Rar5" archive and not as a zip file. That was probably the issue. Appreciate all the help and again thanks for a really good mod!! 2
