parkerc341 Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Keep on flying boys. Cheers to RoF, lovely game it is. 1
WitchyWoman Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 I'm still flying it more than FC but I have also been trying to research into FC's lacking AI issues. I will not be giving up on ROF. I bought everything for it several years ago and really enjoy VON S's mods for it. 1 1 2

I wish I could get VonS's mod to work... his damge one works fine but with his AI one my AI just turns slow and waddles around when in low combat.
cmbishop Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 I noticed a difference between version 1.36 and version 1.4 of the vonS mod. With version 1.4, it's hard for other planes to follow the waypoints and they tend to crash very easily in low-level combat. With version 1.36, they follow the waypoints and ground crashes are less frequent...

Ver. 1.4 is slightly more aggressive than ver. 1.36. 1.36 is a "best of" refinement of the older AI mods previously offered (vers. 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3). In ver. 1.4, among other changes, the AI is at liberty to dive more quickly, at higher speeds, and so on. If you are noticing too many ground crashes from the AI in low-level combat, recommended is to try out ver. 1.36 instead. Ace and veteran AI do well mostly with ver. 1.4 of the AI mod, but novices and average AI flyers may sometimes crash into the ground when dogfighting too low. If I feel inspired in the future, I might try and tinker with a final, ver. 1.5 of the AI mod -- although I will leave that project aside for the moment -- currently getting back into WoFF. (Aside: too bad that the FMs are locked deep down inside RoF - tinkering with FMs would give me more reason to fiddle further with AI tweaks too in RoF, but it is what it is.) Cheers all & good flying to you, ? Edited January 11, 2024 by VonS Fixed typos. 1 1
cmbishop Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Thanks VonS for clarifying the difference between version 1.36 and 1.4! I've noticed in both cases that the AI with the Albatros DV tends to go into long spirals before crashing. In any case, thank you very much for this mod! ? Good flying to you too ! 1
