Wing warp ever?

Recommended Posts

One of my favorite things from long ago was the warping wings of SDOE.  Without it I just don't loose the feeling of a static object with any of the planes..  Is it baked out of the realm of possiblilties?

Thank you. Never heard of that one. Was it pre or post CFS1?

I am not sure what you are talking about?

The Fokker E.III has been announced as a future Collector Plane for Flying Circus - and it will have wing warping (just as it had in Rise of Flight).

It came out one year after CFS1 (1999 vs. 1998)... all of which reminds me what a revolution Il-2 was two years later! I was very excited by the fact that it had a flyable Mosquito. But it had issues with realistic scenarios (Fw-190s are replaced by Me-262 part way through its Tobruk scenarios if I recall correctly!) It ended up being more of a sandbox because of its openness to mod tools/documentation and it eventually proved the basis for a good WWI mod (although the game engine is unstable on modern operating systems).

Il-2 is the biggest leap I’ve witnessed in a genre. I guess Falcon 4 matches it for those who were around then.

As for the Eindekker: YESSS!!! I assume it will have some pushers to play with.

Yes: Airco D.H.2 and F.E.2b (already released).

However, there will be a shortage of two-seaters which are slower than it (the F.E.2b can outrun the E.III if the Fokker doesn't have an altitude advantage)!

We really need a slower two-seater (e.g. Caudron G.4, B.E.2c, Morane-Saulnier L), but none has been announced so far.

So glad to hear about the DH2. First day purchase for me.

As for slow two-seaters, while I love the look of the Caudron I think the BE2c should take precedence with 3500 built and its unfortunate starring role during Bloody April. But one can dream of both, and a Blériot XI to fly across the Channel with...

Well, it may well be a dream to get any of them.

I think the arguments for the Caudron are:

- Twice the bomb-load, and a much more practical gun armament than the B.E.2c

- The game only has one French designed two seater, Britain already has five!

- France doesn't have a twin engined airplane (Germany and Britain already do).

With 1400 produced there were half as many Caudrons as there were B.E.2 variants (and France had more two-seaters overall during this period, and used them more offensively - pioneering strategic bombing etc.)

For these reasons I'd personally prioritise the Caudron ahead of the B.E.2c, although I think we could do with both (along with a German two-seater from the first half of 1916).

I wouldn’t get too excited if they port the old RoF FMs which had the Eindekker matching the DH2 in many respects and it getting out turned by the much heavier Albatros contrary to the science and several eye witness accounts.

Part of the issue is the missing Fokker fodder (BE2c). If you want a sim that has all the relevant planes and more believable performance differences give WOFF a go.

There's a wing warping Morane-Saulnier G in a museum near me and it is beyond primitive. How anybody flew, yet alone fought, in those I struggle to understand. Could it really out turn an aileroned aircraft?

As for the Caudron, I love its Pterodacyl looks and you are totally right that the French are underrepresented.
