Blitzen Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 (edited) The newest hotfix yesterday has seriously disabled my older Open Composite install. If I attempt to start the sim I get an immediate and complete PC freeze with a popup that explains that the OpenComposite can no longer work. I read somewhere that this was a new problem because of the lack of support from Microsoft(?) I've come to depend on Open Composite for increased FPS and to be able to use NeckSaver, sooooo is there ant solution or workaround that will solve this problem it is really maddening. Do I require a newer version of OpenComposite ( where do i find it?) or an older version of Microsoft Windows ( how do I do that?) ( Posting from ATAG :https://mixed-news.com/en/microsoft-...mixed-reality/According to a statement from Microsoft (via UploadVR, see sources below), it will no longer be possible to download the Mixed Reality Portal app or Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR starting November 1, 2026. And according to an anonymous Microsoft source that reached out to UploadVR, the "future release of Windows" in question will arrive in late 2024. Anyone who installs this Windows 11 update or later one will no longer be able to set up a WMR headset on their Windows PC. The statement reads: "Existing Windows Mixed Reality devices will continue to work with Steam until users upgrade to a version of Windows that does not include Windows Mixed Reality."As an owner of a HP Reverb, it's time for me to save money for a new other brand headset.) The link below is the opencomposite that I've been using. I've used it with my Pimax Crystal, Reverb G2 and Pico 4 without issue. It automatically updates the DLL files when you open the program, so I never have to place them in the game. https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR
[CPT]Rhino06 Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Anyone find a fix to this issue? Mine also no longer works after the patch.
ZiggyZiggyStar Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 I’m not sure if the problem you are describing is the same, but I periodically have an error message re open composite. All I do is put the openvr_api.dll ( I keep a copy ready to go in a folder on my desktop) back into the game folder (inside the bin folder). The openvr_api.dll file is the one I originally obtained from the gitlab. I have an HP Reverb G2. You may need to reboot after, I can’t recall if this is necessary or not.
Blitzen Posted December 27, 2023 Author Posted December 27, 2023 This is the pop-up I get with game start failure:

Blitzen Posted December 27, 2023 Author Posted December 27, 2023 This was timely advice. When I disabled recently added VR Enhancer 6.7 Mod I got everything back including NeckSaver...so at least for now :ALL GOOD! Thanks so much!
