Force game to see new controller

Guys,

 

I updated my Virpil WarBrd base to the current firmware.  While the Virpil software and Windows both recognize the stick, IL2 sees the stick, but it does not function.  I can't reprogram the stick or make it do anything in game.

 

I tried deleting the "devices" file in Data>Inputs hoping that the game would see it as a new stick but no luck.  I assume that the game is looking for an existing ID for the stick, which would have changed with the firmware update.

 

Would anyone have an idea on how to force the game to see this as a new device?

I had a similar problem with a new device. I opened a ticket and got the following ideas :

Try the following:
- delete the folder "[Game folder]\data\input"
- delete file " [Game folder]\data\input\devices.txt"
- delete the contents of the folder " [Game folder]\updates"
- update the game

 

If you start a game from Steam:
- delete the folder "[Steam folder]\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input"
- delete file "[Steam folder]\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad \data\input\devices.txt"
- verify Integrity of the Game Files - https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335&

If you use a third-party software for joystick - temporarily turn it off
Do not forget to remove the "Read only" attribute from the folder.

I deleted the updates folder and the devices.txt files then new controller was in devices.txt and was recognized in game.

Attention, I read that you cannot have more than 8 controllers recognized by IL2 (not sure).
