EAF19_Marsh Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 The Mk. VIII is prettier. I would argue prettiest. Also, supposedly, the best overall in terms of handling and performance. 2

AndyJWest Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 A Storch would be nice. I'd rather have a Walrus though: 2 1
jollyjack Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 As genuine overall allround floater i would then prefer ( ??) this baby: 4 1 1

kestrel79 Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 For sure the I-153 will be really fun in VR. Always was a fav for me in original IL2 and Warthunder.
JG4_Moltke1871 Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 AEG G IV Its a smaller twin engine and was used as ground attacker in significant numbers while spring offensive 1918 Need this because it’s a cool bird and have something to counter the mighty Breguet in late war scenarios. 1 1
Gambit21 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Not until it's something PTO related. I can't think of any Korea related aircraft that might be offered as a collector's aircraft that I might want.
Enceladus828 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) IL-4. We need another Soviet bomber. Edited December 22, 2023 by Enceladus828 7 2
FuriousMeow Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Spit IXc, Ta152, I-153, both Strutters, Pup, DH2, Alb DIII, Walfisch and Eindecker. And hopefully if there's more, them too.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 C variant of the Ta 152, 190 D-13, -5A Catalina, Mosquito B Mk IV, Fiat G.55..............in that order. 1
Gambit21 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 ...although if the add carriers later, and the F9F...I'd buy that. 3
FuriousMeow Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 If we're doing wishies - FM2 or Wildcat VI.
ST_Catchov Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 We desperately need flying boats. Here's three of them. But I feel it's unlikely, sadly. 5

In that case, the next one I'll buy is the next one that'll be available as I already have everything that's been available from the beginning of the series. Have a nice day.
BlitzPig_EL Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 I've purchased everything to date. Going forward I will be more, discerning, in my expenditures. The Waco glider was a complete waste of my money. It's use case in the sim is so narrow that it should have been AI only. How this was chosen as a flyable over the B25, B26, or A20G is mind boggling. 1 7

How they chose to not make ANY variant of the existing VVS A-20 (Boston II/III, Havoc II, whatever) flyable for the allied players in BoN or BoBP is even more mind boggling. 1 6
tattywelshie Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 HE162...I suggested it as a collectors plane on FB and the official IL2 FB page admin 'liked' my suggestion, so that's a done deal! ? 1

Compared to B-25 or -26 it's quite obsious and logical really. One cockpit, and extremaly simple at that, compared to 3 crew stations minimum, each of them requiring more polygons and texturework than the complete Waco alone both inside and outside. G Havoc, however, that's more realistic low hanging fruit, I'll give you that. Whatever happened to that new intern/employee who did the teardrop Spit XIV as his learning job? He could do the same for A-20. Albeit modelling the whole dorsal turret from scratch would definitely take much more time and effort. Back to OP's question - well, everytime C-47 goes on sale, I'm thinking about it. But since I dont do much flying in this series anymore these days, I'm not sure If I want it THAT much. I personally love this choice. Aviation and history experts may love the 6th variant of in fact about the same plane or vehicle but something like a glider adds a whole new game mechanic. It makes the C-47A far more useful too ! IMHO they could not have made a better choice than this. But as always ... YMMV. Next collector plane for me ... all the coming WW I planes. Some are also a bit of the same, but at least we will -again- have, in IL-2 GB, a complete set (except of course those that came with the channel in the past). I will get the Mk IXc Spit however, as in my opinion that version was the one that should have been released first, not that pointy thing... I haven't bought the bubble top Spit either... and if there hasn't been big improvements with FC before FC4 comes out I doubt I will bother with that. On the other hand, the I-153 is another of the little Polikarpov's that I have always liked, so I'm likely to be tempted when that arrives

Mtnbiker1998 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) None of the announced collectors have really caught my eye. I think the most interesting would be the I-153 for the biplane fun, but even then I doubt I'd fly it more than a handful of times and can't see myself buying it for more than 5 bucks on sale. Excited to see the new Spitty as an ai to flesh out Pat's Early war campaign, but I barely fly the Spits I already own so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Speaking of Pat's early war career (and since this thread is apparently half wishlist anyway) I'd love to see more seasons for the Normandy map! ..and maybe some more midwar US planes. Early Jug (do it right this time!) Early P-38 and maybe a P-51A Edited December 22, 2023 by Mtnbiker1998
Missionbug Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 For my tastes and if I was buying anything it would have to be the I-153 and Mk IXc, the I-153 should have been available years ago but there you go. Take care and be safe. Wishing you all the very best, Pete. 1 1
BlitzPig_EL Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 The I-153 will be and instant buy from me. Probably the new Spitfire as well. 1

Nowadays that much work is not quite the 'blocking in' stage. I think just the gunsight I built for a DCS aircraft last year had more polys by 3 or 4 times. We've come a long ways. Did you do any others?
