Help with the glider and attaching the rope

How do you attach the rope to the glider when you spawn side by side? In the C-47 (empty load), I tried to taxi ahead of the glider as straight ahead of it as possible. Stopped at 50m.. 70m.. 80m.. 90m.. 100m.. etc. Nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?

 i don't think you can ... 90m distance and lined up is the only way probably.
