Getting Back to Blitz?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Been on Sturmovik Great Battles for couple of years and I'm interested in trying Blitz again (as well as Tobruk) now that B-17s are coming in 2024 . I started with original key bindings and control sensitivity settings for COD Blitz. Aircraft bounces all over the place. Action overall seems very jittery (to use technical term?) I recall seeing a post that recommended baseline control settings .

Any suggestions?

Recommend you look at the 'Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide'... located in your 'manuals' folder in the main CLIFFS install folder.  Also included there are manuals for the aircraft.

Re. your control difficulties... did you create a small 'dead zone' for your joystick controls >?  This will make the joystick less sensitive to small hand movements, etc.

Also look at your joystick software... does it have any settings built in on top of the game's joystick sensitivity settings?  Don't forget most joysticks with software allow you to create unique profiles for each game you own.

Check the trim of the aircraft...  Is it in trim when you are in flight?

Finally, make sure your joystick is calibrated in Windows... it is common for joysticks to go out of calibration.

Thanks for this info, Buzz. I'll recheck those settings. Especially trim and dead zones. Joystick works great for all other sims.

Could this be more of a frame rate issue than controls? It might be lowering your graphics settings makes it more responsive and the sim isn't having to catch up with your inputs.

I've noticed that my reticle bounces all over the place when I'm trying to aim, as compared to BoX. Is it my joystick, or the game?

Maybe "head movement" in the options is enabled...
