Do you have the Ilya Muromets in your virtual hangar? Have flown the campaign already and now looking for further missions? Here is a SP mission in which you could get interested.

Pure fiction! Ilya Muromets bombing raid on the Western front

Inspired by an old Handley Page 0-400 mission of SweetEye, this "Mission Impossible!?" was designed. My skills with the RoF-Editor are pretty shallow, but finally/miraculously I got a mission - packed full with activities. ? Up to date I couldn't survive with realistic settings. So be warned, but perhaps you have more luck/skills. More details below and as this is my debut mission, please take it as it is (no help/tips re. problems/irregularities).

DownloadILYA-Mission_Impossible.zip

Installation:

  • PERMANENT: Unzip the files into the Main Folder of Rise of Flight 2.0 (example for Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of Flight 2.0)
  • TEMPORARY: Create within MODS folder the sub-folder "ILYA-Mission_Impossible" and unzip into this folder. Then use JSGME (tested and worked - don't forget to switch MODS ON).
  • Then you'll find under "Missions List" an entry named "Ilya Muromets" containing the "Mission Impossible!?"

Duration: 90 minutes.

Requirements: Was running smooth with my equipment (Intel i7-5820K, 16 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 980/4 MB).

For all who don't want to be surprised, see HIDDEN (Spoiler alert!) wherein a safe way is described to reveal all of this spectacle.

HIDDEN

Spoiler

To spectate and survive(!) this mission in its entirety, some cheating is required.

Before mission start, check-mark in "Mission Settings":
+ Auto pilot
+ Safety collisons
+ Invulnerability against weapons
+ Unlimited ammo (optional)

After your plane has taken-off,
- Set Autopilot (default key: Ctrl+A)
- Switch to Gunner Position (Ctrl+C) and Aiming mode (T)
- Switch between Firingpoints Forward or Backward (Shft+C)

This will give a fine spectator position and if you want to be engaged, use and reload your MG!
A switch between friendly (Shft+F2) and enemy (Ctrl+F2) planes enhances also the spectator experience ?
Just enjoy the spectacle*! And as said: Pure Fiction!

*) Interesting: The many planes AIs create such a variance, that none mission I've flown was the same.
