It’s been delayed, so it means you won’t know very much a bit later rather than not knowing very much right now.

It is disturbing how much of life this describes.

''Sometime this week''...

"It is hoped right now that the first part of the video (about 40 minutes long) will come out before this coming Monday."

At least 40 Mins could be released on the weekend better than 0 mins with a longer wait.

But yea I atcually like it to be shorter and released over time as that gives us time to fully process it.

Yes, I read Luke's post thanks...

It's just answers to our questions that were collected earlier... and as it will not contain anything to do with the next project, I doubt it will need to be thoroughly processed by any means. Hopefully it may give a little more clarity to what or how they are going to integrate the new Karelia map into GB, and will they be making any of the plane set to make full use of the map...

I wish I'd had that experience with Il-2 Pacific Fighters - but the cancellation of the follow-up plans (due to the trademark case) meant that a lot of details were left incomplete, a number of types of aircraft were missing, and the overall ambition wasn't fulfilled.

That’s not quite what happened…..

The ‘trade mark case’ centred on the artwork on the dvd box for Pacific Fighters that UbiSoft produced for the western market.
It had nothing to do with the content of the game itself or 1CMaddox Games.

Northrop-Grumman threatened to sue UbiSoft for breach of copyright on the box.

UbiSoft settled out of court but handed Oleg the bill. As you can imagine this left Oleg….less than impressed….

 However, Pacific Fighters did have other, profounder consequences;

Oleg’s relations with UbiSoft soured and although their publishing deal had a long way to run he determined future releases would be handled through Steam as well.

Whilst PF was a product of 1CMaddox Games, it’s development took place under the direction of a team run by Ilya Shevchenko, which allowed Oleg to concentrate on what would become Cliffs of Dover.

When it came to bolting PF and FB together to run as a unified entity (and eventually become IL2 1946) there were problems which required the attention of Oleg and his team….at a time where critical development decisions were taking place in CLoD.  This led to a raft of project management failures.

The consequences for CLoD were a game engine that simply didn’t work very well….and never has done and it’s hand-cuffing to Steam.

The new engine was supposed to be the basis for a whole new series of expansions. After 1946 came out Ilya’s team started working up a now still born Korean War expansion. However, as we know this all came to naught with the demise of Maddox Games.

Btw; don’t underestimate the pull of the Korean War on a Russian dev team.

This was where Soviet - and by extension Russian aviation took on the Yankee….

That a lot of content over 40 mins with 16 pages long just to talk about how far they came, the work they've done this year and known future projects ect.

But I do agree I hope to see the Karelia map in progress but yea I bet there will be a 10 min section at least on the new project to grow the  attention towards it.

IIcr Luke teased that there will be a lot of talk afterwards so who knows.

Speculations based on doubt must be doubted ?

Hey guys, just a quick update: the reason for the holdup in the release of the video is that the voiceover translation work is taking longer than expected. It is hoped right now that the first part of the video (about 40 minutes long) will come out before this coming Monday.

Part one of the video will be info about the current state of GB and some info to do with the new project. Part two will be the Q&A.

So, in other words, they're answering a bunch of questions we didn't ask, in addition to answering a bunch of our questions, but none of my questions made the cut apparently!

Temper your premature hype.

”some info to do with” is rather vague,

They won't be announcing the next project (we already know that). But any information about new technology they've been working on... well... I wonder if we'll be able to make inferences.

Well, we know it will be a further iteration of the existing game engine. I'm personally hoping for some indication of some degree of backwards compatibility... hoping anyway.

Iirc this will be the first time through official means they are going to talk about the next project as I don't really count Enigma's as a official source.

So who knows what they will going to say but I hope they at least tease the area for it.

I reckon they'll lend some info on tech with the new project, improvements to the engine, etc etc without divulging the actual theater which isn't Europe, Pacific, Italy, Britain, Russia, Africa etc. Just my hunch.

Leave the development and coding to the Russians and give the PR and marketing to an American

It worked in the past!

Don’t worry, they know what they’re doing. They’ve done this before;

Two guys will appear on screen. One will be big and relaxed. One will have a moustache. They’ll give an illustrated presentation before doing the Q and A.

They’ll be some banter between the pair that only people born in the Soviet Union can truly understand before the guy with the moustache concludes the proceedings by pouring a bucket of water over his own head.

Don’t believe me?

This really happened the last time they were in charge of their own PR.?

There's a reason ED's international approach works.

Because it's...well...international. The guys sitting in Russia coding are good at that, the other guys doing other things are doing them for a reason.

Consider it a sorta progress report, yes. The actual title announcement is still planned to come later in the spring.

I think the dog ate a couple or three of my posts in this thread. They’re gone anyway. I keep reading though to see the unbridled enthusiasm of a couple of posters that’s tempered by some others’ caution and skepticism. I think I lean towards their way of watching this unfold.

As I remember it, Spring doesn't technically end until Summer starts. That's June 21 by my calendar.
