Monitor showing exact mirror of VR (one image for each eye) and when I put take off the VR the monitor is unuseable

Hello, I just purchased IL2 during the last sale and am working on getting it setup properly.

In other games I've been able to use the monitor to set up the game and select missions and such and then put on my VR when I"m ready to use it. In IL2 I'm not able to figure out how to do this.

What I would like to do is to have the monitor revert to the non VR display when I take the VR off my head if this is possible.

Thanks in advance!

This is not possible, afaik.

What's the problem with doing the "menu stuff" in VR ?

Thanks for responding.

In tank battles for example I can see better on my monitor. If I could take off my VR and use the monitor that would be nice instead of having to completely exit the game and uncheck VR and start the game again to use the monitor and having to repeat the same process again if I want to go back to VR.

In other VR games I've played I was able to set it up so that when I took off the VR headset the game would switch to monitor video mode without having to restart the game. The double vision display on my monitor is completely useless. I'm not sure why it's even there.

Haz the mirror displayed on the monitor will only show the VR view when in VR mode. Can't get a static pancake view. BUT! What you can do is to set it to show either the left or right eye--or both if that's what you like. It's something you can edit in the startup.cfg file. Been a while since I've been in there so I don't know which one it is (might just say "mirror" but it's near the bottom of the graphics settings section. Goes something like 0= both eyes, 1=right, 2 = left. Whatever it's currently set at is clearly both eyes on yours, right? So change that to the one eye, probably right would be best as that's where the menu is mostly. You'll still have to move the headset around to point at it but now it'll be a useable size! Ain't perfect but it works.

My bad. It's in the main folder/data/startup.cfg. Look for a value for  "or_render_eye" and change it to either 1 (right eye) or 2 (left eye).l That'll give you a single eye mirror on the monitor.

It's not a perfect solution but I can sit my vr down and recenter and use the monitor somewhat which is great. I like to play for a couple hours at a time sometimes but I don't like to have the vr on my head for hours on end.

Thanks again.
