Question regarding Steam.

I’m sorry if this has been asked before and I’ve no doubt it has, please delete if needed.

I bought Stalingrad, Bodenplatte and Kuban through the site and set up an account on here but currently steam is running a sale and I’m looking at getting Moscow and possibly Normandy whilst they’re around 2/3 of the usual price.

Is it possible to link these together?

Apologies again for being thick and lazy.

Thanks.

If you link your stream IL2 and your Standalone IL2 account. You can buy from both stores and play however you see fit.

I have some stuff bought on steam and some bought from IL2 store and I play on steam and have access to everything.

Brilliant, thank you.

Okay I am going to come across as really thick now, so when I go to buy Moscow, Steam prevents me as it says I don’t have Stalingrad on Steam and I have looked for a while now to see where I can link my Steam account on the IL-2 website. Any help appreciated.

I’m an idiot, sussed it.

You need to own the Steam version of Battle of Stalingrad before you can buy any of the Steam DLC.

You probably can't buy the Steam version of Stalingrad if your il2sturmovik.com account is now linked to Steam. (You can only buy each title or item once across your accounts.)

Purchases made on the il2sturmovik.com website can be used in the Steam version of Stalingrad.

Purchases made on Steam cannot be used in the web store's launcher for IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles.

I'm pretty sure you actually can buy Stalingrad from Steam, and have it on your website account. From how I understand, Steam uses a different key authentication process, then it layers your website's keys over that when you login.

If Steam still needed you to activate a CD key on the IL-2 website like I had to it wouldn't work, but it doesn't do that anymore.

That's because you started with a Steam version

As I understand, to have any flexibility you need to buy Stallingrad on Steam. After that you can choose where to buy the next modules/collector planes or campaigns

So I'd need to buy BoS again but on Steam?

Possibly. My Steam library doesn't show what I own on il2sturmovik.com. Then again, my il2sturmovik.com account doesn't list what I own on Steam.

I only know I can't buy a second copy of Battle of Stalingrad for myself from the website because I already own it on Steam and my accounts are linked.

I also can't 'complete' my web launcher version by buying a second copy of any of my Steam DLC including Flying Circus Vol I and several Collector Planes.

On the other hand, if OP can buy the Steam version of Stalingrad and link it to his il2sturmovik.com account, he'll be able to play all of his content on Steam. And Stalingrad is only $10 right now so I guess it's worth the gamble to buy a second copy ... if it works, he can still save $20 or more on Battle of Moscow during the sale. If not, ask for a refund.

I’ll give buying BoS on steam a go, it’s 7 quid and like you say if it doesn’t work then I can get a refund and wait for the site to do a sale. Thanks.
