Passing key presses (keyboard) to the OS, other applications

I used a MIDI controller with FreePIE and vJoy. But now that has become unreliable, not sure, probably the hardware being old.

Mainly I needed 1 joystick axis for Tank Crew, for driving, because I don't like the key control where you have to leave your finger on the key to continue driving.

I figured I could achieve the same, with vJoy, without the MIDI device, if I dedicate 2 keyboard keys to controlling the axis. I didn't yet manage with FreePIE, but I found another utility, "Virtual Controller", to do this easily.

However, while the Virtual Controller key control of a vJoy axis no problem when another application such as Firefox is in the foreground, I found it not to work when IL-2 is in the foreground. I had to alt-tab to bring VC into the foreground to change the axis, the axis changes while IL-2 is in the background, aren't noticed by IL-2, so this doesn't work.

So it appears that IL-2 catches, swallows, the keypresses, unlike other applications. Is there a setting to make this work?

Solved, found it in an old thread in the forums. Since I run IL-2 as administrator, I had to do the same with Virtual Controller , and then the keystrokes came through.
