WW1 in New Game

As I understand it, the developers are working hard on a new game/engine/module (description pretty vague so far).  There has been a large amount of speculation regarding exactly what they are working on.   Have they given any indication that future plans will include WW1 aviation in this new game?

They have given no indication that FC I, II and III will not continue to be supported and developed. There is no indication that the new project includes WWI. That would not be a theatre with no major cities that has not been done before. Those 2 comments rule out a lot of possibilities.

Unless FC can be literally copy / pasted into the new whatever it is.. absolutely no way they're starting ww1 from scratch again.

It´s entirely possible that Flying Circus will suffer the same fate as Rise of Flight after the release of the new project in 2013/2014. It's easy to figure out what the new project was called back then and until today.

Your gut feeling isn´t misleading and your question is absolutely legitimate.

I certainly hope it (and the rest) will be ported over to whatever this new project is, it would especially suck to have so much ported from ROF just to be put on ice straight away in favor of a new project like last time, right as they get done moving (most) things over to this engine.

The revenue out of porting Rise of Flight certainly funds the development of the new new game/engine/module (description pretty vague so far). Flying Circus could therefore only be seen as "a means to an end".

Regardless of this, I would very much like to see the most important content available up to the release of the new project being usable in one product.

Sorry, there is no way I'm going to pay for RoF aeroplanes ported into the new project for a third time...

From today's perspective, your point of view is certainly correct and completely understandable.

However, with a "third acquisition" of Rise of Flight or "second acquisition" of Flying Circus, we are talking about a timeline of + 10 years into the future. Namely, when the current product, which is still under development, expires and a new, certainly even better one is developed. ?

By then, you will certainly have forgotten your previous purchases of RoF or FC, or new, younger players will have joined who did not yet own FC.

Take it easy  ?

This thread is making me more anxious than ever to know what we’ll get in “the new project” ?

They haven’t even finished porting the RoF aircraft into FC.  There is no chance that they’ll be ported into the new project unless it only involves a few mouse clicks.

I thought you had already made it clear that you weren't buying RoF a "third time". That's why I mentioned also new, younger players possibly buying the third port the first time. ?

I got the impression that this new effort has limited backwards compatibility.  I'm certainly curious to know what parts are compatible and which are not.   At any rate i hope they consider FC to be a product they wish to support/develop/revise going forward.   Any for profit interest needs to generate profit to stay in business.  I would most likely be ready to buy another iteration of ROF/FC/Normandy/etc that was decent, offered something new or greatly improved.  I don't expect any software developer to offer lifetime support and revisions unless there is a maintenance contract.
