carve_gybe1 Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 (edited) Hi All First of all, I first fell in love with IL-2 almost a decade ago and tried my luck with Track IR and a fairly basic set up. I eventually got frustrated and left it. Fast forward to now and I decided to splash out on a i9 13gen Intel rig with 4090 laptop...I already had Oculus 2 VR which was my wife's for use without a computer... I also bought the Thrustmaster t1600m FCS (with HOTAS but without the rudder pedals)... I spent the last few days setting everything up and binding keys to the way I like em. Not difficult because I just want to fly Lagg-3 for now. Here's the weird bit: some of the binding stop working mid-game. When I start a Quick Mission parked, I can unpause with a joystick key and I can see everything works. Then, either when enough time elapses or when I turn the propeller on...the entire HOTAS stops working...or just the throttle. Also, nav/landing lights mapped to my joystick stop working. Then, mid-game, I go to key mapping, and all I need to do is to re-map one thing from HOTAS and one thing from the joystick, and then everything works again. But I have to do this each time I start a mission. If I didn't crash so often, this would be ok, but it is really getting on my nerves now. So... while I am still excited about this investment and the game, I hope I can find a solution based on input from this community. Any ideas? My setup: - Kickass laptop - Oculus 2 (wired with original wire) - Thrustmaster joystick and hotas (plugged into separate USB ports, but HOTAS through a USB hub which also has mouse/keyboard attached) All new set-up so shouldn't have to re-install stuff. Thanks in advance! EDIT: I just tried the game without VR - everything works. It must be either SteamVR or Oculus software... Edited November 30, 2023 by carve_gybe1 1
[CPT]Bligh Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Almost sounds like the game is losing focus. Does alt tabbing make any differene?

McFly60 Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I had a similar problem a few days ago, after the latest game update. During one mission the joystick's pitch and roll controls started to misfire, so much so that I thought I'd been hit. Then I started a quick mission, and the problem was still present. I looked at the response of the controls in the game setting, and both pitch and roll responded inconsistently with joystick movement. Then I went to the Thrustmaster website and downloaded the updated drivers related tò my HOTAS X joystick, after having removed the previous Thrustmaster files from the system. Rebooted the PC, everything worked perfectly again.
jollyjack Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Laptop? Usually that has one USB controller chip only. Traffic jams ahead maybe. You could clean up all non active USB drivers with USBdeview.exe.
carve_gybe1 Posted December 4, 2023 Author Posted December 4, 2023 So I tried without USB hub and that didn't help. Windows energy settings were fine. But I figured it out. There was a dialog box popping up on the left but without text. I didn't notice it because it is translucent. After hitting enter to close it, all settings were working again. I had misdiagnosed the problem as a key binding problem. Thank you for your input.
