ITAF_Rani Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Probably this idea will never see the light in this sim, but to me remain full of interesting: -Not so mutch land to cover( only a a part of south east cost of Sicily, Malta and a bit of North Africa.) -A starting use of carrier -Cool english planes like as Spit Mk Vc and Beaufighter Here an interesting reading about this battle https://www.key.aero/article/five-versus-lightning Salute all 1 1

Maybe by a third part could be possible implement a map with North Tunisia,Sicily,Malta....could be great... I d like fight these damned Spit Mk Vc over the sea..?
357th_KW Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 If a group were to start a new map project at this point, I think Malta is one of the best possible choices. The basic area you need is tiny and could later be expanded. 150km x 150km gets you the Southern coast of Sicily (including critical bases like Gela and Comiso) and all of Malta. Most of that area is water, so you can focus your efforts entirely on Malta itself and that bit of Sicily. On top of that, we already have a bunch of aircraft that saw service there - Hurricane, Spitfire Mk V, 109E/F/G, 110E, Ju87, Ju88, He111, C202. Obviously it’d be great to flesh that out with some collectors, but even if you never got them you could still do some nice 1941/42 scenarios.
Enceladus828 Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 If the Invasion of Sicily or the Tunisia Campaign was done we'd still get Malta. Regingrave stated here that they can't make large cities like Rome to an acceptable technology performance. While unclear if this pertains to major cities in Italy like Rome and Naples or if it also pertains to Sicilian cities and Tunis, if it's just the former then we don't need Rome nor Naples for the Invasion of Sicily. In the image below, the map is roughly 625km x 625km, so mostly open sea, includes Hammamet, airfields in Southern Italy, stops just north of Salerno and doesn't include Naples nor Rome. For the next map for the Tunisian Campaign the map is roughly 600km x 600km, again mostly open sea and can be used as a 3 in 1: Siege of Malta, Tunisian Campaign and Invasion of Sicily 2
357th_KW Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 I can't imagine that any of the cities on those prospective maps were significantly bigger than Cologne or Frankfurt or Amsterdam or Rotterdam or Antwerp or Brussels. 2
354thFG_Leifr Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 It was a bit of a weird answer to give when folk were asking about Sicily; Rome is nowhere near the relevant area of operations. ?
JSOflyer69 Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 the valletta harbour would be a major undertaking but not impossible { it would take alot of very talented people to make it possible ]
