It means this is not the original IL2... GB is 'currently' the latest generation, although the original IL2 was far better in many ways.

Sorry but this version of IL2 is more evolved than the original IL2, even if there a lot less planes to fly.

Well, if it is built by Ilyushin, then there is the Il-6, Il-8, Il-10, Il-10M, Il-16, Il-20, Il-40, Il-102..

Definitely not. Current version has better graphics and is possibly better in some flight related things, but it is nowhere near the original one content wise. Starting from the obvious, IL2 1946 had carriers, 4-engined bombers, float planes, big formations, radio navigation, you could also tune to radio stations to listen to broadcasts, Lorenz blind landing system, more advanced quick mission builder and easy-to-use normal mission builder, it had online wars going on etc. At this point it is quite clear that current IL2 version has no way of evolving to the same level content wise as IL2 1946 did.

Those 2 features, together with being able to set course on planes that have a course setter and choosing what base to be guided to instead of homing indicators simply guiding you to the nearest base are so missed in this sim by me.
