British and Russian wear leather flight caps.  American start out with the pilot wearing a 10,000 hour crush cap and the crew wearing what looks like leather covered hard helmets (like pilots who fly ww2 aircraft wear today).  Within a few seconds the American crew switches to these OD hard helmets with built-in headphones like a Navy talker helmet, or a Huey crew helmet.

Yes, when in danger from enemy fire (whether air or ground), A-20 and B-26 pilots & crewmen will switch to this helmet.

That is a pretty cool little touch! The uniform modeling in this sim has always been top notch.
