MajorMagee Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 (edited) JSGME v2.6.0.157 Download 1. Download JSGME (Jones Generic Mod Enabler) 2. Unzip JSGME to your main BOX folder... ( Typically :\1C Game Studios\ ) 3. Run JSGME.exe that was placed in that folder. (You can right click the JSGME exe icon, and place a shortcut to your desktop for easy access.) 4. JSGME will start and a screen will display. 5. Now close JSGME. This sets up the proper location for the JSGME MODs folder for your BOS install. 6. JSGME is now properly installed. Now for your MODs that work with JSGME.... 1. Download desired MOD zip file or files 2. Unzip your selected mod to the MOD folder that JSGME set up in the BOS main directory..... 3. Start JSGME....a new screen will open. 4. On the left side of the JSGME screen will be the list of MODs you have available. 5. Move the MOD you want to the right side of the JSGME screen. JSGME will install it. 6. Close JSGME 7. Start BOS and your selected MODs will be available. JSGME backs-up your original installation. If you don't like a mod then simply move the MOD back to the left side of the screen and JSGME will uninstall it AND put BOX back to it's original configuration.... The compatible mods are constructed using a nested folder format matching the file locations within BOX you are replacing. For Example: Folder With The Name Of The Mod You Are Creating (e.g Grass Mod) 1C Game Studios Data Graphics Grass (place new files here) Textures (place new files here) For files that are not directly visible in the game install you will most likely find them using the unGTP-IL2 utility to unpack the gtp files located in the C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data folder. To be safe, and to avoid confusion, do this in a special directory you set up just for this process far removed from :\1C Game Studios\. Place copies of the original gtp files there for unpacking into the (null) folder that unGTP-IL2 creates. Once they're unpacked you can find most of the files you might want to mod already sorted into their proper file directory structure. This is the pattern you will follow as you assemble your modified files into a mod for use in JSGME. Example Here Edited November 4, 2023 by MajorMagee 1 1 1
Stonehouse Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Good write up for people new to mods. Couple of additional comments Do not close/terminate JSGME part way through a mod being enabled or disabled. Large mods like scenery retexture mods or loading several mods at once for example, can often take several minutes to copy files around. Be patient - If you interrupt the process by closing JSGME then you are very likely to end up with mod files partially added or removed from your IL2 folder. This can take quite a bit of effort to sort out at times depending on the mods involved and how familiar you are with the game folders and contents. However, don't be scared off using mods because of this as you can always recover to standard vanilla IL2 GB by simply unticking the enable mods option in settings. Once you are comfortable using mods and have built a collection of your favourite mods a good idea is to make use of a feature of JSGME called mod profiles. Essentially you can save the choice and order of mods in the right-hand window in a mod profile. Then you can just select the saved mod profile to use and JSGME will automatically load the correct mods in the correct order. Very useful for virtual squadrons wanting to ensure everyone has the right mod set loaded or to easily switch between say your preferred IL2 mod set and FC or TC mod set. Mod profiles are manipulated via the task option in the menu in the centre vertical bar separating left and right windows in JSGME. JSGME user manual attached below. JSGME.zip 2
