The Battle of Britain (BoB) or the English Channel.

Hello,

I have searched the forum for a thread that deals with a personal request:

I would ask the developers that the Channel Front or Map (DOVER) should be the SIM of the il-2 Sturmovik and not as a separate SIM. In this way we would have an important map, perhaps the most important of those that already exist.

The closest thing we have is the map of Normandy, but it does not have London or all the historical bases. But... of course there would also be some PLANE stories from collectors missing.

The truth is, I don't know how many IL2 pilots have the SIM installed: IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover BLITZ. For example, I don't have it installed although I was one of those who bought the original Cliffs of Dover box from Oleg's time.

Many years ago, the members of 1/JSpan did a campaign for three months that was launched from the HL (Handmade Cooperative Missions). They were Coop missions but there were also AI planes, bombers that crossed the "CHANNEL" between each other. It was possible to carry out missions quickly with more than 300 aircraft in flight. So we were launching two or three BoB missions during the same months that it lasted in reality, the HL slots were filled with pilots of all nationalities. The mission packs were made from a pack that was purchased from a person making expansions for the IL-2 1946.

Here are some promotional videos from 13 years ago:

Battle of Britain's 70th anniversary in IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

The official video of the campaign launch:

By the way, watching these videos today I see that at www.il2Sturmovik.com
You still lack the external view to make "GUNCAN" type videos

Thanks in advance and best regards

Yes I have installed it but it is different in many ways. And I would prefer it to be in the same graphics engine and with the same commands.

Anyway, I'm going to try changing the hard drive of a tera to install the four SIMs that interest me: The IL-2, the Dover, the X-Plane and Flight Simulator. To this add the ground Hell and the driving SIMs.

Thanks in advance and best regards

I would like a Normandy campaign from the side of the Lftwaffe, both the authentic fighter and the FW-190. Also on the map of Germany. I would like some scripted campaigns of the LUFWAFFE deblaque on the Eastern and Western fronts.

For fans of American USAF aircraft, there is no argument against the Ceros or Zeques, for this you would only have to make a Cero as a purchase or collector's plane. Although what the Americans want is an aircraft carrier with the hitching system on the aircraft carrier platform. This would bring joy to all those who want the PACIFIC front.

With the Normandy map you can also recreate some BoB battles.

Thanks to the entire development team who make this SIM the best of all time, but to make a good recreation some new planes would be needed like the Dornier 17, the B 17 Superfortress even if it is only managed by the AI.

A Spanish front campaign like the Luftwaffe Legion Condor would also be good.

Another good one would be to hunt down the German destroyer of the Tipiz

Sorry dude, it’s not going to happen. There was an interview with the devs in October last year by Enigma and they stated it would be strange from a business point of view to do the Battle of Britain and or Tobruk when it’s already covered in another IL-2 game.

My feeling is that until there's a graphic engine that can render hundreds of aircraft at the same time then would be no point in a BOB sim or any sim that tries to emulate ww2 strategic bombing.

I've tried to get into Il2 cliffs of dover but seeing bomber formations totalling a dozen planes just kills any immersion for me.

But then again, why not cover the period of time just after the Battle of Britain?  Between the Battle of Britain and D-Day, there was a lot of air activity going on, and not all of it was high level bombing.

That’s already covered in Desert Wings-Tobruk (Rising From Ashes campaign and some SP missions) and in the upcoming Fortresses and Focke-Wulfs — Dieppe installment. I would rather see the devs cover other, more interesting places in WW2 or Korea than a place where someone else is already covering.

Well, it's a shame not to have the BoB in the IL-2 Sturmovik and not in an isolated simulator with two campaigns. I would have preferred a campaign with specific campaigns for the summer months on an IL-2 Sturmovik map with the IL-2 Sturmovik SIM.

IL2: Cliffs of Dover is a different sim by a different team and nowadays even a different company. Besides the name, there is absolutely no relationship between the two. Saying that you'd rather have the Battle of Britain represented in IL2:BoX rather than in IL2:CloD is akin to saying you'd rather have a Syria map in IL2 than in DCS, or that you'd rather have a global satellite imagery based map in IL2 than in MSFS. ;)

Of course everyone would like a Battle of Britain map in IL2:BoX but then they'd have to make it themselves. Since there's already another sim by another company (i.e. IL2:CloD) covering this theatre, this may not be financially attractive.

Hello everyone,

Well, that's what I want to have all the maps, including the BoB map, on the same SIM. Sorry if this bothers you, maybe the "Cliffs of Dover" development team.

Gluck!

Polish Pilots in the Battle of Britain

In the dark days of World War II, a group of brave Polish pilots played a crucial role in defending England during the Battle of Britain. Despite challenges and language barriers, these intrepid aviators demonstrated their skill and courage in the skies.

After the Soviet invasion of Poland, hundreds of pilots took their planes to Romania and Hungary. In 1921, France and Poland had signed an alliance, which led many Polish pilots to head to that nation. However, General Gamelin's hesitant leadership in France wasted the operational capacity of these Polish aircraft, which, although obsolete, were in the hands of brave pilots. Despite flying 714 missions and reporting more than fifty victories, the French authorities prohibited the Polish pilots from flying, without offering them new machines. Faced with the imminent collapse of the “theoretically” impassable Maginot Line, hundreds of Polish pilots headed to England.

The English Air Marshal, Sir Hugh Dowding, hesitated before accepting these non-British volunteers. The Poles proved to be excellent pilots, although they were disorganized and spoke English very poorly. For this reason, at the beginning of the Battle of Britain, they were kept in reserve while they learned the British language and codes. It was not until July 1940, when RAF casualties endangered the defense against the Luftwaffe, that Squadrons 300, 301, 302 and 303 were incorporated, flying Hawker Hurricanes. In just a few days, they demonstrated their skill and a brave attitude that bordered on recklessness. 308 Squadron became the RAF's most effective fighting unit.

Although the English censors did not want to give them the credit they deserved for image reasons, the Poles' exploits spread by word of mouth and became a sensation in London, especially among young English people. By the end of the war, more than 1,000 Polish pilots had served in the Allied forces. Among them, Witold Urbanowicz, known as “Kobra”, shot down 15 enemy aircraft and was the air ace who led his subordinates from the famous 303 Squadron, which managed to destroy 126 enemy aircraft during the Battle of Britain. Witold was the most decorated pilot and the only Pole to receive medals from three Allied nations. Another notable member of Squadron 303 was Jan Zumbach, nicknamed “Donald”, who shot down 8 enemy ships123.

The story of these brave Polish pilots is a reminder of their sacrifice and courage in the fight against oppression and tyranny during one of the darkest times in modern history.
