Bailing out and dying bug

I was playing an iron man career (version 5.107). I bailed out too low and my chute didn't open in time. I was killed, but it just registered as bailing out instead and I was able to continue my career as if nothing happened. I then tested it in some quick missions where I bailed out at extremely low altitude and got the message that I had been killed. The end of mission summary gave me a "mission accomplished" and just said that I had bailed out.
