Mel Gibson does IL-2

So what have happened in GB career mode.
Change log says Germans have been sett to more realistic numbers. But tried today. Career Normandy, Cean phase.

 

First mission in IX, there is an intercept of incoming enemies. We take off, fly 2 minutes and there it is. The biggest singleplayer furball I've seen in IL2. Maybe 30-40 planes buzzing around. Dogfights everywhere. Planes falling from the sky leaving dark streaks like a giant meteor is about to hit earth. Besides the giant furball probably 15 Germans planes were buzzing around doing ground strafing.

 

I shot down 4 in short order. Suddenly seeing A LOT German planes around me, and not a Spitfire in sight.

I try for ace in a day. But I get hits, more hits in my plane and start for home. 3 jerries follow me. I fly over my airfields hoping the AAA will help me. But 3 is to much. More hits, wounded several times. My force feedback stick starts to go limp. I do a hard crash landing right on my airfield. I was sure I would explode. But to my surprise I survived. Now 5 jerries flying over. 

 

10 minute flight, 4 kills, one totalled Spit and walking distance to the bar. Super silly Mel Gibson "historical " movie action thing. But very fun.  If the career continues like this. I'll never actually get land my Spit.

You need to attach the mission file(s) and list your career difficulty settings to get a better idea of what's going on.

I believe I had one of those massive air battles on Moskou map flying the 110. I loved absolutely loved the randomness of it. This was prepatch and loved it. So no mission files from me! Want to keep it!

Yes, there has been some more randomness introduced, and IMO it's a good thing.

I see this a lot, but have no idea what a mission file is.  Is there a place that explains what they are and how to attach them?  Thank you.

It's the _gen.mission file in /data/missions. You'll need to compress it to a zip file before you can attach it here, but that's all you need to do. 

 

Just note that you need to save and attach it here before generating another mission, as the data in it is overwritten every time a new career or quick mission is generated.
