Airplane wing struts flickering and not fully rendering until close

I'm guessing this is a graphics setting but I'm not sure what to change. The wing struts on all WW1 aircraft will flicker in and out and not fully render until I am flying very close to the other plane. This happens both in VR and on a normal flat screen monitor. Does anyone else have this issue or know what would cause this? Everything else seems to render and display fine.

Hi. Set higher AA, turn off sharpen.Try Nivida options for best image quality.

You may want to avoid FXAA, try MSAA 4x instead.

Or if shimmering really bothers you and you have a recent and powerful NVIDIA GPU (think RTX 4090), run the sim at 1440p or 4K resolution without AA in-game, but with 4x SGSSAA and LOD Bias -1 in NVIDIA Inspector. This will eliminate any and all shimmering.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, changing from FXAA to MSAA did get rid of the shimmering. The struts still disappear at a certain distance but when they show up they are solid without flickering/shimmering. I wish I could run this at the highest resolutions but my old 1060 isn't going to cut it.

I will never shame anyone for whatever rig they're simming on, since graphical settings and requirements depend highly on personal taste, however it may be time to upgrade to something from this decade (the noble GTX 1060 is a 2016 card).

I highly recommend the RTX 3060 Ti if you're on a budget. Avoid the similarly priced RTX 4060 as it mostly runs off DLSS 3.0, which IL-2 / FC does not support.

LOL it is time to upgrade that's for sure. My Sidewinder 2 joystick is over 20 years old! You can make fun of my GC all you want but don't you dare say anything mean about that old warhorse of a joystick. Props to IL2 for still running smooth at pretty high settings though on this dinosaur card. I was looking at a 3070 a year ago as it was recommended as better than a 3080 though technically a downgrade. But I need an entirely new rig especially since I'm limping along pretty hard in the VR arena these days. The joystick, however, I'll use that until it dies. :)
