Swordfish and 406 are both AI and not in the above list. Both were shown in early WIP renders.

I was surprised then that when they did announce TF6.0, the Typhoon was all they were able to show. That revelation was disappointing and indicated that TF6.0 is years away if it ever does surface. It's a 3D jigsaw puzzle with hundreds or thousands of pieces that TFS apparently does not yet have in hand and is depending on volunteers to eventually furnish.🤔

Swordfish and 406 are both AI and not in the above list. Both were shown in early WIP renders. True, those won't be flyable in 6.0. They are still a part of the DLC though and they do intend to make both flyable at some point. Hopefully that point isn't too far down the road after 6.0 is released. I'm really looking forward to flying those two. I know this is straining at gnats but I have to say the "P51A" label in the video still erks me a little. First, that is not an "A" model Mustang and neither is the other version in this DLC. Second, it's an official release video and they didn't even spell it right. It's "P-51A" not "P51A". Third, can "Mustang" really not be used in a historical flight simulator to represent an aircraft that was really called that just because a car company has it trademarked? That seems a little far fetched to me. Especially when "mustang" is a word in the English language for a breed of horse. I'm no lawyer but I have a hard time imagining a trademark claim like that holding any water in court. Then again TFS is pretty small so even going to court in the first place would be bad enough. Best compromise in my opinion is to use the North American designations "NA-83" and "NA-91". I think I remember seeing somewhere that they're going to go with this, but that was awhile ago and I don't remember where that was said. 1
Volant_Eagle Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 I probably should have explained that first point as it's commonly misunderstood. In the USAAC/USAAF designation system "A" does not represent the first variant of a type, it represents the second. The first variant does not have a letter. Example: 1st = P-XX 2nd = P-XXA 3rd = P-XXB 4th = P-XXC Rarely does the very first accepted version of a type see much use, so it usually isn't commonly known. We also use just "P-XX" when referring to a type in general without being specific to a variant. That makes things a bit confusing when referring to the specific variant designated "P-XX" and people aren't aware there is such a thing. Here are the RAF, USAAF, and North American company designations of equivalent models of early Mustangs: Mustang Mk I = XP-51 = NA-83 Mustang Mk IA = P-51 = NA-91 Mustang Mk II = P-51A = NA-99 All three are easily recognizable by their armament. Mk I has 4x wing mounted .303 cal MGs, 2x wing mounted .50 cal MGs, and 2x nose mounted .50 cal MGs. Mk IA has 4x wing mounted 20mm Cannons. Mk II has 4x wing mounted .50 cal MGs Interestingly this method of not giving the first model of something a letter designater is still used for firearms in the US military. The M16A1 is not the first M16. It was preceeded by the "M16" adopted by the USAF. The Beretta M9A1 is an updated version of the originally adopted model which was just called the "M9".

FTC_Rostic Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 (edited) Guys. You know the computer game is as a software, and software is not 100% visual stuff. Right? TFS has a lot of things to do, and a lot of that can't be visualized. I know, they are officially were too much silent.. recent announcements of the announcements is not enough. But recently there were two great videos showcasing sate of the game in development. There are just no new planes... Spoiler Edited December 23, 2024 by LukeFF Swastikas in preview image 5 2

Modellers don't work on Truesky, Speedtree, visual updates, terrain or VR....they just build models. That's why they are called modellers. Texture artists, VFX artists (video/audio) and coders, they work on the above. So the modellers have had another 15 months to update those models..... let's see what Buzzsaw showcases for the team and see if they have managed to bring any release of V6 to reality rather than just vapourware.

That's what I meant by the whole TFS team. After all, the new DLS addon is not just about modelers. And I think they are already working on models in other planned addons, they already showed Lancaster B.1, Fairey Swordfish, Morane MS.406C-1 and others that we don't know about. But the release delay is not only about the models themselves, but VR and True sky are not compatible with each other due to some coding, because the original game was designed only for 2D. This is the problem and not just that ... https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/155-team-fusion-notes/
