Panzerlang Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 (edited) If you expect people to be "whistleblowers" and risk their jobs for a piece of gaming software When it's a case of deliberate fraud, yes, I do. And the CloD pre-order event was most certainly a case of deliberate fraud. The game was intentionally mis-represented in a desperate attempt to pull in enough money to save the project. Or at least to pay off enough debtors such that careers wouldn't be trashed, as became the case with Luthier's (deservedly so in my opinion). The one and only reason I have the faith I do in BoS is 777/RoF. With an enhanced RoF engine. As I've said before, what could possibly go wrong? But that's me. In other circumstances or frame of mind I could be as angry/negative as some others here and have a hate on for BoS purely because of the CloD debacle. Human nature, ay? FuriousMeow Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Ah yes, the witch hunts. Especially fun when fully misguided.

Rama Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 When it's a case of deliberate fraud, yes Sorry.. but no... If my company was doing things that bad, I would fear for the future of the company and try to find another job in another company... but I would certainly not risk my job and the salaries that goes with before I find any other situation. My family leaving is more important than the whistleblower glory. And I'm ready to bet the majority would act like me.

Pretty much my attitude.. that and the past eight months. Sorry.. but no... Or saving a few hundred strangers $50.. or anyone including myself for that matter.. High stakes life and death matters are different.. but for a PC game.. ? No way.

If you were going to lose your job anyway, what moral price a few more weeks of employment? Not to mention you could blow the whistle at least semi-secretly. I've walked out of jobs in my youth for a lot less. But whatever, I was just making a point. Getting into the ifs and buts detail is probably not for this forum, interesting as it may or may not be. Most of us have a good feeling about this sim but in my case it's for entirely pragmatic reasons, not because I believe it's being made by paragons of virtue out of love for their fellow simmers. Established engine, throw money, get goodies.
I/JG27_Rollo Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 If you were going to lose your job anyway, what moral price a few more weeks of employment? I imagine that new potential employers would be quite interested in whether someone is a whistleblower or not... 2
Trident_109 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I think anyone who paid attention to the development of CoD knew the game wasn't up to snuff, despite the apparent inprovements promised or featured. Luthier's "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" video was quite telling. The game show trailer that still had old IL2 audio was another facet that shoowed the game wasn't 'finished.' What I don't get is those who felt lied to. Even though I saw the above things I hoped that work would contiue in the form of patches.... and they did what they could (no matter how lacking the final effort may have been) to bring the game up to snuff. Isn't whistle blowing used for more important issues like drug companies employing improper measure that compromise the public's health? I'm probably going to sound like an A_Hole, but squeeling on a game development gone wrong sounds rather petty. Feeling hurt about it almost 3 years later seems rather pathetic. Sorry. That's how I feel. No real malice directed toward anyone. I'm just commenting on a pervading feeling I've heard from many CoD buyers. I have no issue with those who are cautious regarding BoS because of past experience, but it's time to put away the bad taste and wait patiently for reviews of BoS's early release. There are lot of great forum members who have the ability and talent to display what this game has, and I look forward to reading their reviews. Hopefully then, those on the fence can make an informed ratonal decision. I think the current RoF engine has displayed great playability and deserves my benefit of doubt and trust. Jason's ALWAYS been a great sim advocate, and I trust the efforts of the team. 3
