Scenarios (50+ player, organized historically themed battles) in Il-2

I'm new to the Il-2 forum.

I've played a lot of Aces High, and Air Warrior before that.  In those, we have events called "Scenarios".

I'm wondering if those exist in Il-2.  Or, if not, if they could be run in Il-2.

A Scenario is a multiplayer (50 players or more -- the more, the merrier) battle based on a historical air battle.  It is organized into four battles, generally that are a few hours long, that run on four successive Saturdays.  The battle is fought over historical terrain, with a historical plane set and historically based objectives.  The players are organized into the two sides.  Each side has a Commanding Officer, who is responsible for coming up with battle plans and giving orders during the battle to his forces.  The sides are divided up into groups or squadrons, each having a Group Leader, who coordinates his group in battle.

The goal of Scenarios is to have a battle such that, once you are done flying in it, if you read first-hand accounts of the actual historical battle, you'd feel "that's how it was for me in the scenario -- that's how it was in the fights I got in!"

For example, we might have Battle of Britain, which then has Bf 109E's, He 111's, some Ju 88's, some Bf 110's, Stukas vs. Spitfire I's and Hurricane I's.  You have historical objectives, such as taking out shipping and particular port facilities, say in frame 1, then in later frames hitting particular RAF airfields.  You have scoring based on how many enemy planes are shot down, how many ships are sunk, how many land targets are destroyed.  The battle is run on four consecutive Saturdays, each Saturday having a three-hour battle called a "frame".  You figure out which side wins each frame, and then the overall winner is the side that wins the most frames.

A scenario is best when the terrain is the historical terrain, the plane set is the planes that were in the battle, the target mix is historical (generally ships and/or land targets), and you've got enough people flying it (at least about 25 per side, more is better).  It's nice if you can tweak the weather to be more historical, but as long as it's not just zero clouds, it's generally good enough.

Do folks think that Scenarios could work in Il-2?

Here's a description and some video of a past scenario as an example of what they are like:

Yup ACG (Air Combat Group) has mass historic (and hysteric) sorties Sundays.  Organized chaos, quite well done.
