IL2 listed as compatible game.  I tried it and in my case I CTD at mission screen, menu loads fine and eyetracking with FOV seem also to work fine

See the list of  supported apps on mbucchia's home page:

https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated/wiki#application-compatibility

Note it does not list IL-2 as compatible. This is straight from the horse's mouth.

Does it know if there is any plan to support here or there are some technical barriers to be overcome by IL2 developpers first?

I think the relevant log file would look something like this if the app works:

2023-09-29 07:20:26 -0300: Hello World from 'F:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game\Il-2.exe'!
2023-09-29 07:20:26 -0300: Requested PVR SDK: 1.24
2023-09-29 07:20:26 -0300: Varjo SDK: 3.10.2.20
2023-09-29 07:20:26 -0300: Setting foveation level: 0
2023-09-29 07:20:26 -0300: Detected IPD: 0.0633
2023-09-29 07:20:26 -0300: Foveation is active

IL-2 Sturmovik was removed from the list earlier today as it is known to not be compatible. Unfortunately not enough testing had been done at the time and it was thought to be but that proved to not be the case pretty much as per the FFR implementation in OpenXR a while back. Eventually it leads to instability and crashes.

It would be great if the BoX team could devise an app similar to the Magic4All that would work reliably. When the app does run it seems to decrease gpu frametime a bit and doesn't seem to have any bothersome artifacts from what I can see. I would use it routinely were it not for the crashes. Seems like it may run thoughout length of first mission loaded, then crash if trying to view the mission replay.

This one speaks the truth - listen to him

FWIW I still have not experienced any crashes myself with PimaxMagic4All in IL2, but others have, hence the removal from the list earlier. You can see from my screenshots that I went well past the menu into actual missions and it worked fine for me.

I think someone mentioned some settings that helped them not getting crashes, but other users have disproved it since.

It's still quite mysterious why IL2 in particular just doesn't want to play well while so many other games do.

I installed the game and touched no settings.

In all fairness, I didn't have time to play the game, but I did start a mission, take the screenshots for the documentation (which took a little while), and repeated that a couple of times (so I did go through the menu at least 2 times past the initial start up).

For MP the app is an obvious "no go". In SP ymmv. Once the app successfully starts I've noticed that it stays active in Il-2 BoX until I exit the game even if I close the app window. In a 1v1 mission where fpsVR shows gpu frametime of 10-11.5ms, the app can bring gpu frametime into the 9-10ms range. In some instances i've been able to refly a 1v1 QM multiple times without without a crash and then run an 8v8 custom mission to completion.

Any update of this topic?

I don't get any crashes with the Pimax Crystal using "SteamVR" as my OpenXR runtime in SteamVR. My GPU frametimes go down approximately 1.5-2.0ms and my CPU frametimes go up about the same using eye tracking in Pimax play. I do however have had sporadic crashes with PimaxXR being my runtime in SteamVR. I assume the eye tracking is working as I cant notice any distorted graphics at all throughout my field of view that you would normally notice in FFR.

It looks to me that IL2 does not support DFV or even FV if using Open XR. There isn’t a menu option to switch it on in the TK.
But, as I bought the Pimax to increase my frame rate in DCS and for increased clarity in other sims I’m still happy with my purchase

Does it work with IL2?

There is no reason to work now, as pimax DFR is nothing new, and it never worked before (actually it works for some seconds/minutes but at end game breaks every time -> multiplayer)
